Thumbs up

if you'd rather not paint them you can use vinyl its alot easier and can be taken off if you get tired of it

I have a black bowtie w/ the chrome outline. I just taped off the chrome before i sprayed painted it. Also use the spray paint that is made for plastic. i put a lot of coats on it. I think i put like 5 coats on mine.

I would remove the bowtie. It would take too much time to mask off the whole front of the car. I believe the bowtie is held on by 2 nuts behind the grille

I removed my bowties first. It made me feel so much more at ease. I just used fishing line to remove the double sided tape between the chrome backplate and the bowtie. I then cleaned up the double sided tape, painted the emblem, put new double sided tape on, and replaced the bow tie.

Edit: I also used a clear sealer over about 6 coats of paint.

Ok, so I couldnt find any vinyal, so I just spray painted it with about 4 coats of paint and it came out to be really nice, I also debaged the trunk of my car (except the bowtie, which I may paint aswell). So here are a few pictures before I put them back on my car...

Tell me what you guys think, ill get some more pictures up as soon as I get it back on my car, and after I paint the rear one!

Also, do the "gm" emblems ( on the side of the car ) have the double sided sticky stuff that the "c-o-b-a-l-t" letters have ( cause I want to take them off also). Thanks.

Oh, and I also painted the letters C-O-B-A-L-T black, I was thinking about putting them back on, but im not sure how to.. do I just buy some more double sided tape? I kinda wanted to copy what importkiller and co-yellow-balt did to there letters.. looks like this..

I really like that. But im finishing up mine, they need 2 more coats and they will be all black. I just need to know how to put them back on..

To put them back on just get some double sided tape. I put my letters inside on the passanger dash. The peice above the glove apartment.

I like the lettering it looks sharp, I'm thinking about removing cobalt from the back and the bowtie, just keep the SS on there but move it where the beginning of cobalt is.

The holes will show. This is why I painted the Bowtie black and replaced it!
