I tinted my headlights and taillights black an my blue 05 SS and it looks great. Makes it look like black crome.
Will have pics up soon.

05 cobalt SS
Tinted headlights/taillights
20% window tint

I would never ever ever ever do anything to my taillights because a) it usually isn't DOT legal and if it is DOT legal then there's not enough tint to be able to see a difference and b) accident liability. A friend of mine was just in an accident last Tuesday a kid stopped short and my friend didn't realize he had his brakes on till it was too late because of his tint, swerved but obliterated the kid's rear end on the passenger side. Cops impounded what was left of his car, tested the light output of the remaining taillight and determined it didn't meet regs so they found the kid at fault, he has to pay the equipment fine plus his insurance will not pay for the damages because the accident was caused by a "modification which did not fall under acceptable DOT guidelines".

I'll be interested to see how the headlight housing looks, though I stand by my previous statement that I don't like black on ANYTHING, it'd still be neat to see what another blue SS looks like with the black headlights.

The paint is by PPG, dunno if that is a local company or national, but it is urethene, NOT base coat. You'll need hardener to make it durable. Good luck, and PM me w/ questions on anything.

Well now that I've had some time to use the custom headlights, no change in light output, and have had MANY compliments on them. Also, for anyone trying this mod, I used two tubes of Permatex clear sealant from Autozone (recommneded to me by Wikky, thanks man) and after I was done applying the sealant to the housing, I outlined the whole gap where the lens and housing meet, smoothed it w/ my finger to seal any gaps, no fogging after 4 days of hot and cold weather.
