Calling Retrofit & HID Gurus

Hi gang, it's been quite the journey with me getting these G.D. retrofits to work. Currently in the home stretch and I just installed a new (3rd) harness- Morimoto Motocontrol (9007) last night. It works, the lights come and low beams are great. The issue is that when I flick to high beams I hear a small 'click' but the beams don't angle upward. Would you say this is a problem with my 9007 connector or a problem with the 'High-Beam' connector? Which would power the cutoffs to allow more light upward?

I think an important thing to note is that the lights don't go out when I flick the high beams on, they simply stay on and don't angle upward. Thanks in advance you guys.

The high beam should activate a solenoid in the projector that moves a shield, they don't actually angle upwards (unless you have LEDs which is a completely different ball-game).

The click might be the solenoid moving/activating, try putting a paper (I recommend a non-reflective off-white paper) in front of the headlight and see if the pattern on the paper changes.

They're old Mini H1 projectors. They're definitely not changing angle at all- they were before though with my old harness (same exact one, just ended up getting damaged). What would power the solenoid the connection marked 'high beam' in the relay, or would it be something in the 9007 connector do you think? It's the solenoid not getting power and I'm positive it's one of those two connections, just not sure which to tackle first.

If it's a new harness you might have to swap out the main connector (blue connector that ties into the stock harness). Iirc the harnesses come default set at 9004 which is the same size as 9007 but different wiring, swap the blue and white wires.

Good points. I had the seller repin it, I'll just have to make sure that it was repinned correctly, perhaps they made an error though. Trying to find a reference online specific to this harness.

Picture?

If you still have trouble I have a moroimoto one I'd let go for cheap and write it as a gift on the tax form for shipping into Canada

I think it’s the pins in the 9007 male connector being arranged incorrectly. Gonna have to try some trial and error again I guess.

So I figured it out. If anyone else has similar issues to this; it was the 9007 connector. Your relay harness may not come pinned correctly. On a morimoto motocontrol harrness from left to right with tab up: blue, white red.

Retrofits are now working as intended!

For future reference if anyone needs it, most relay harnesses come pinned for 9004 and need to be re-pinned for 9007
