Chevy fucked up the paint job

I got into a bumper to bumper accident a few months back and just had chevy fix my bumper.... They had to replace the bumper and repaint obviously to the sunburst orange on my car...

Problem is we had some pretty crappy weather the last couple days and i just got around to washing my car with it being pretty sunny out... After the wash i do my usual inspection around the car and i saw that the back bumper is very different orange to the color of my whole car... This burns a nerve because i made them know that iam **** about how my car looks and all i wanted is for the job to be done right.... I payed 1087 dollars for the bumper to be fixed and i get a shitty outcome...

When i picked the car up the day it was finished i took it back over to the body shop and told them bout the scratch that the service department must of made because i just picked up the car...They werent to happy with service as this was a usual occurance and told me that they will repaint the bumper....

Neway my point is that im pretty pissed about the discoloration of the bumper, the shitty paint job and quality of the job that was done on it.....So what im wondering is if i can go back to the dealership get my money back for the paint job and take it somewhere else to a guy who i know is good???

Ask an attorney who practices in Virginia.

BTW, where is "Neway"? Is that somewhere near Norway?

best you'll get is a rebate or some of the cost back... unless they say they'll re-do it again?

your certain that the bumper is the wrong color?
is it possible that your car has altered/faded in the time youve owned it and the bumper being brand new paint is causing the difference?

i'm sure it's extremely hard to match the exact color paint of the car.. i'm sure it'll be a shade off no matter how good the paint shop is

That orange might be the hardest to match, but don't ask me, I'm just guessing.

i heard of the a "blending technique" used to match colors. from what i heard they take the factory pait and alter it to match you specific car....like if your car has faded, then the new paint will be faded, thus matching.
food for thought

First of all, Chevrolet didn't **** up your paint. The painter at the shop did.

With a color like Sunburst Orange, you'll never get an exact match. Any shop should tell you that. That's why normally when they paint a panel on a car, they blend the paint in with the rest of the car so that the difference in color can't be noticed.

well to all the people that say it is impossible to blend well they painted my front bumper and it is a perfect match for the reason that the service people fucked up my paint when they took out my headlight putting marks in my bumper repainted and looks exact...Back bumper is a brighter orange and yes you can tell

For $1100 I hope u got a new bumper........... good luck on the paint matching, kinda sounds like someone did a half ass job like most of the "certified" guys that I have delt with.
Try getting an interior panel replaced under warranty, then having a guy tell u that they wouldnt cover it. Then I having to have a volcanic erruption on the guy to have cover it. THEN going out to my car to drive away and find MUD AND GREASE smeared all over my driverside door and having them tell me it was there, WHEN IT WAS STILL WET!!!!! I wish I had a picture.... Plus I had to wait for a hour before they even took my car in(Yes I had a appointment). Anyways this was a couple months ago and now they are calling me up, telling me that GM wouldn't warranty the piece so I have to pay once again and u know what I told em..... u can shove that panel right up ur....... cuz I am not paying. Anyways I have gone to 3 Chevy dealerships, 2 out of the 3 wernt bad.

Sorry about the rant..... back to topic...

later

Metallic paint is some of the hardest colors to blend....black being the easiest as long as there's no flake in it.

It could be worse....mine came from the factory with bubbles in the paint on the door and back quarter and when I was taking it back to them to have it fixed, my car blew up.....lol

My back bumper came like that, and the car was brand new from the factory. It's not super noticeable, but I know the feeling. Sorry though.

Oh...forgot one thing...paint usually never blends as well and looks the same when done on plastic compared to the sheet metal

If you look at your back bumper it is probably a different color then the car... this is because when it came from the factory it was painted in a different place then the car (maybe another country) so yeah nothing is perfect. I got into an accident awhile ago too and my bumper doesnt match but i didnt have a dealership do it

well see i mean the part that really pisses me off is that the bumper comes primered in black i think right?? well you can tell on my bumper that they missed spots because there are 1 or 2 little black lines that were missed when they sprayed the paint....

To top it off i got it back and i find two deep scratches on the bottom of the bumper and on the lip that you can tell someone hit when backing up or something (service department) O well i was seriously contemplating getting rid of this car but after getting my car appraised for 14,000 dollars and it only being 6 months old was a pretty shitty and i mean shitty day

damn man u got ripped off. I had an accident with mine, well actually my gf did and most places wanted around 500 to fix it but then i found a guy that the car club im in uses and he did it for like 200. Also the paint fucked up on my drivers door. The clear coat actually came off and the dealership told me they would fix it but when i took it there they refused to do it and tried to charge me like 700 and i told them to **** off and took it back to the guy that fixed my bumper and he did it for 50. I would suggest finding a good painter and say to hell with the dealership on paint repair

I took my Silverado to a dealership body shop after some old dude broadsided me. I figured who else better to fix it than a dealership, right? WRONG!!!! OH EVER SO WRONG!
Took them about a week, went to pick it up and the whole area they painted had an orange peel look to it with the clearcoat and HUGE pieces of lint embedded in the paint.

I was like I am not leaving with this vehicle like this...pointing out the fibers...the tech was like "Oh, thats perfectly acceptable in the painting industry" I was like no the **** it isn't, I've painted cars before. If it was, would you see new ******* cars on your lot with lint embedded in the paint? HELL NO! Needless to say, they buffed out the lint, but wouldn't do anything about the peel finish. I was like well whatever, its still warranted since a dealership did it. I chalked it up as a learning experience.

There not gonna give you your money back , I would almost garantee that . Alot of the dealers buy the paint pre-mixed to factory color now . I think its called a factory pack if I remember right , or something to that effect . Its used on newer cars that really havent had a chance to let the paint fade . That could have been mixed wrong at the piant shop . They most likely made no attempt to tint it to match the rest of the car . If its as noticeable as u say it is , I would deal directly with the body shop manager to get the issue resolved . If that doesnt work deal directly with the owner of the dealer .

Matching that Sunburst Orange is not rocket science . Theres no reason the color shoulda been off .
