Cobalt ls
I have a 2.4 intake manifold that will be up for sale very shortly. best mod I did n/a. inexpensive, and proven gains
in all honesty, for under 500 bucks you can get a pretty solid gains on a 2.2. If I could go back, this is what I would do. dont listen to the people who tell you to get an intake or catback for hundreds of dollars.
2.4 intake manifold ~100 bucks shipped
zzp intake tube. uses stock airbox. ~110 shipped
lsj downpipe if you can find one. the 07 2.2 exhaust mani is nicer than the 05-06. 50-100 shipped.
if you are a manual, poly trans bushings ~60
Should net you a realistic 15-20 horsepower for less than the price of a catback exhaust, and only slightly more than a name brand intake. the factory 2.2 downpipe is laughable, and the 2.4 mani is dyno proven to add over 10hp to a car with intake/exhaust mods. This is all coming from someone who has been there, done that with a bolton 07 2.2.
Then you can do whatever from there. short shifter if manual, b@m shift+ if auto, more aggressive brake pads, etc.
I made the mistake of going full bore on my n/a build with expensive intakes and exausts. Like I said If i were to do it again, I would do what I listed above... unless you have huge plans for the car in the future. you might see a few hp more with expensive intakes and exhausts, but for the price/return, it isnt worth it on the 2.2. By a few, I mean maybe 5.

Downpipe before catback. If you have intake, 2.4 manifold, and a downpipe, a catback isnt going to net you too much more than sound and looks. Maybe 1-2hp. Catback is a lot of money for mininal gain. For a highly modified engine or forced induction, it would be a differet story.
like I said, this is for the best bang for your buck. You could spend a lot more money and not see too much improvement overa smart, but inexpensive setup. A 2.2 will never be fast with basic boltons. For under 500 bucks, this is the best way to add some serious pep without breaking the bank

Save your money and keep it simple. The difference between what I listed and spending 1500+ on "full bolt ons" will only be noticable on a dyno. You would be hard pressed to notice a difference just driving around on the street. Im not saying there isnt more power to be had, its just not economical
