Angry Cupholders....lets fix these damn things

Ok I have had enough of drinks flying out the freaking cup holders. They are the worst designed item on the entire car. Has anyone come up with a non homemade looking solution for these. I have some ideas let me know what you have tried or your ideas!

This is one of my top complaints on the car...i hate those damn things. Someone mentioned putting boost tube section in it to hold the drink...maybe worth trying. I though if someone molded a rubber/plastic insert that was tall walled it would work....but that has fabrication involved and im lazy.

I rarely put cups in my car for this reason. But when I get a large coffee, I put it in the left cupholder, and adjust the air/heat dial (the one that lets you put on the defogger, feet, face, etc) so it holds it in place lol.

I really don't mind the cupholders in the Cobalt that bad, considering others I've seen. Now I hate the ones in our Blazer, when you pull a drink out the whole damn cupholder insert comes out and is stuck to the bottom of the cup. And in my sisters Cavi, the cupholder is only about 1/2 of an inch deep. Chevy needs some schooling in cup holder design.

You need to drive like a normal person when you have drinks in the car. You can't drive like a race car driver or corner at a spirited pace. Adjust your driving, not the cupholders.

7 or 8mph in a parking lot is not spirited, driving like a normal person does not mean driving like a dead person

Its pathetic how poorly the cup holders work

why should I change my driving? My ms3's cup holders worked perfect... these were poorly designed for the type of car it is. Now we need to find a fix.

I only have a problem with thin bottles, cups generally stay well enough. The Cobalt has much better cup holders then my VW did... or my CRX did (which was none). I guess if you're having that much of an issue you could take the old ones out, cut them in half add some plastic to deepen them and put them back in. Shouldn't be to hard... might look kinda crappy though.

The only car ive ever had worse than the cobalt's cup holders is my 89 Turbo Trans AM, BECAUSE IT HAS NONE!

anyways back on topic, im looking for a solution that will look stock, and not look like a hack job. I think that those push button fold away ones are pretty cool, like what was in the old ford contours, i think porshes have them too

i just use a beer can sleeve, the insulating type. fits in the pass side cupholder fine and holds most containers in place quite nicely

The g5 I had before this SS had a liner in the cupholder. It helped a lot. P/N is 22713400

I heard the liner may help but most said it didnt... all depends on what type of cup/can etc you put in.

many cups fit so poorly that they just bounce around, regardless of how you drive.

This is a ridiculous statement. What about swerving to miss cars or sudden stops.

What about the fact that you cant **** with the A/C controls with 2 cups in the holders.

The LNFs don't have the rubber liner? My SS/NA has it and it's the only reason I don't come to work every day wearing my morning coffee...
