Custom paint question

I'm considering having a friend of mine who is really good at airbrushing paint my car. It would be just over or in front of the front tires. What would I need to do to make sure it will last? Take it to a body shop and have it professionally clearcoated? Also, the design I want is available in vinyl, so that would be an option as well, instead of going with the airbrush (but I think airbrush looks much nicer).

Any options/suggestions you guys have would be very appreciated.

good point..plus, it would probably more cost-effective too. I don't plan on selling the car--I paid cash for it, so I want to have it until it'll no longer drive years from now. I plan on putting it in car shows and racing it on weekends after I find a beater SUV to drive. I'm still kind of undecided. If I wanted to to it RIGHT NOW, I could go the vinyl route--but if I wanted quality, I could go the airbrush route. Maybe I could stick vinyl on for now and see if I like it or not, then switch to airbrush in a few years

Does anyone know if it's hard to get vinyl sticky residue off OEM paint?

it can be a pain in the butt to take off, but i think paint would be better long term. if you really want to make it your own, paint it. raven- you know littless, from rme? he has the bowties faided in red on a black car? we have talked about doing a pearl blue bowtie on my silver ss. a lot of work, but damn it will look so good.

Removing vinyl can be a pain in the rear, but it is definetly doable. You can always hire a sign shop to remove them for you as well.

What kind of design were you looking to do? I could set you up with the vinyl if you are interested.

Let me know.
