Dead Battery after IPCW Tail lights

Just installed the IPCW LED tail lights yesterday. Tested the brake, turn signal and everything else. Worked perfect

Today I go to start the engine and the battery is completely dead. Not even enough power to run the radio.
Also the CEL and GM Security Light both go on
There is a steady clicking sound from the center console that only goes away after I take the key out.

I had to put the stock ones back in and now my batt. is dead. Gotta get jump started and see if I dindn't set off a GM security light.
Then I have a whole new set of problems

What a hassle

I did but all the wiring is fine.
Now the engine does not start. Instead I head a clicking in the center console that goes off like crazy. Then the CEL and Security Light will appear on the dashboard.
The clicking doesnt stop until I take the key out.

Since I have a battery charger I took out the batt and charge it overnight.
Jumping it from my buddy's car did not help.

Turbo timer shows 6v. but only for a sec. before it shuts off.

See what happens tomorrow.

Id lean to wiring or another issue as all these really are is lights and it seems to me they wouldnt be able to drain that much power that quickly even if they were getting it. But they are on relays and such provide them with power.

I'm hoping that my battery is dead from the -7 Celcius cold nights and it has nothing to do with tail lights. Then I'm only out the $150 for a new Battery and I can put the lights back in.

I think its the cold. My battery completely died after sitting in -10 F for 12 hours and it wouldnt jump. I had to charge it for a good 6 hours.

I think the both of you are right
Just a big coincidence that my battery died the day following my tail lights install. That made me pin the blame on the tail lights when infact I might just need a new battery

Damn I hate it when that happens

Thanks for all the replys

I'm pretty sure it's not the tails. I had the IPCW tails for almost 3 years with no problems. The coldest i ever started my car (without being plugged in) was in - 25C. It was a little rough but started ok.

Its the battery. The taillights would either need to be on or shorting out to cause a dead battery.

That's what it was. It took 10 hours to charge my old battery at low 2 amps setting but I managed to get the cobalt started and drive over to the auto parts store.

AC Delco OEM Battery was only $109
Problem gone, I'm glad

Nothing wrong with the IPCW's but I won't delete this thread since it might someday help someone who has a similar engine won't start/clicking sound/CEL/GM Security light problem
