I figured if I painted them and was required to fix it (they're dicks like that sometimes around here), I'd have to either pull apart the lights, or go stock, neither of which I want to do.

Your ride looks pretty nice by the way. Are the green halos on all the time or do you have a switch to kill them as needed?
I've got them on a switch

And yea I didn't want to be able to see the turn signal bulbs so I added the tinted plexi in front of them but left the reflector bowl chrome

Wert, I barely found time to do mine, bro. If I was still single and no kids, maybe I would...

Done. Plasti dipped front emblem, side, rear, and all the badges. Also plasti dipped the wheels. Love the new look. And no, I'm not tinting the tails or side markers as of right now. I just got V-LED platinums and a custom SMD strips in the 3rd brake light and some SMDs in the side markers... It would defeat the purpose IMO. I'll post a vid of the lights at night one day...
Here's some phone pix I snapped earlier today. Might get better ones later.

So you rewired your halos to be your running/parking lights? Or are the turn signals are still parking lights? I considered cutting the parking light signal to the amber (when that was all I had), but went with the switchback instead, that way all my forward facing lights are white at the moment.

sure thing:
  • OEM/aftermarket set of headlights
  • Morimoto Mini H1 Projectors
  • E-55 shrouds with hubcentric rings
  • H1 HID bulbs and ballasts
  • Bi-Xenon 9004/9007 wiring harness from TRS (will need rewiring, comes wired for 9004)
  • Scuff pad/adhesion promoter/black trim or plastic paint/2 part clear coat/etc...
  • and last but not the least TIME and PATIENCE

I would strongly recommend doing this on a spare set of lights, that way your car is still drive-able if you need to go to the store for something you forgot or if you strip out a projector mounting nut/loose a screw that holds the projector together, or simply run out of time...

theretrofitsource.com resources section, HIDplanet forum, and, of course, CobaltSS.net are irreplaceable in helping you figure out little details/hints (as in what parts of the back of the reflector bowl have to be dremeled off and such)

Lol.. They have sentimental value to me. I J/K.. I enjoy the output too much..... Can't see myself driving with halogens again.

And for the update, wanted to see what hey would look like with eyelids. Put some on with plasti dip. (pictures in the first post. Also just installed TRS sticker on the driver's side headlight.. Here's a quick night shot with a Samsung tablet.... Not very good quality, but will have to do till daytime. Here it is:

your headlights didn't melt the plasti dip off? I used pasti dip to make eye lids on my headlights too and when I turned them on it melted the eye lids

Were yours retrofitted or were they still halogen? Since the bulb is exposed more in a stock halogen setup the lens gets a lot warmer.

I think eye lid addition gives it attitude. No light output is blocked off from the headlight. The finish matches the wheels and badges/emblems. And at night it looks mean with the top part of the light blocked off, while the rest is illuminated.

Lightbulb

So here's a video of light output of the Morimoto Mini H1 projectors (5K DDM HID IIRC) and matching white H11 HIDs in the factory projection housings.

The fog lights have since been upgraded to 3000K DDM HIDs for improved rain and foul weather visibility (definitely helped in fogs we started having in Portland area)

Thread revival!

I like how you mounted the load resistors. What metal did you use to mount them on? Stainless steel?

With the latest V-LED switchbacks the resistors are built in, but when I had them installed like in the OP, they came like that from V-LEDs website. They're mounted on aluminum plates. Highly recommend them for the ease of installation and to keep the heat away from the body of the car.

Here's the link if you want to buy them from them:
