Gen 1 Headlamps

Someone told me that you cannot use xenon lights or hid lights with gen 1 lamps b/c they can't take the heat. anyone know about this? preferably from experience.

I've had 6000K HID's in my Gen1's for almost 2 years now without any problems...

I see you're using my sig

They probably meant that the HID's won't fit in gen 1 w/o doing modifying to them first.

HID's will be fine, they actually put out less heat than a 55w halogen bulb.
The "super bright" halogens (PIAA and the like) will put out more heat than a regular bulb and may cause problems with lenses bubbling, darkening, etc.

Think there is something in the how to section on fitting the HID's in gen 1 housings.
