Exclamation gm ground effects problem

ok so heres the problem: i took my car(2.4Lss) to the body shop the other day to have the gm ground effects front and rear lip put on. so they told me it owuld be about 3 days till it was done...that was monday...today they called me and wanted me to come and have a look at somethin with them ...so i went out and they got the kit in..problem is the lips have these little plastic slotc all the way around it towards the top part of the extension...the guy said that there would have to be holes cut in to the lower partof my bumper for each one of these--about 10 or 14 of em, also each of these would have to be cut out(perfectly for it to match which he noted was near impossible)...so then he said that i would have to go buy the whole ss supercharged bumper to get those extensions out on...can some one please help me with this---possibly give some insight on the process of gettin these things put on??..any help would be appreciated

The way my dealer explained is that the two lips came with brackets that needed to be attached to the bumper first. But I didnt have it done cause it was too much. The only person on here that had the SC kit on a 2.4 SS is celica and he had it done before he even bought the car.

He might be able to help.

I was looking at my rear bumper while the car was on a lift and the maon bumper is totaly diferant then the 2.4L cars. The bumper has a bunch of sloted hols to hold the lower lip on and it is molded at the botom so that the lip will be suported by the bumper a bit in the center. And it is moled so that the grills in lower lip are able to be removed witout taking the lip off.
I dont see how you could put the lip on the 2.4L cars bumper and have it stay in place and look right.

Yes, all of those slots have to be cut for a proper installation. The job sucks, trust me! I am a bodyman and had to put a lower lip on a Cavalier once. Most production bodyshops will probably not want to do this job or will charge you a lot of money to do it.

i dont suggest sticky tape but i am sure that there is some other way to make it work... i would do it myself and then have it painted or you can pay out the ass at a good body or custom shop

It is possible, just lot of money and time. Celica has a 2.4 and he got the lip installed on his bumper. It looks just like the 2.0's too, can't tell.

i called my dealership and talked to thier parts department about the SS s/c body kit for my 2.2. they told me that it would NOT fit my 2.2. but i ve asked this before, is it not the SAME body frame. im sure with some fab work, you can get it to fit. just wondering though, how much did you pay for the kit?
good luck

if you order the front bumper and front valence from a 2.0 it will fit on a 2.2 since thats what i did w/ my car.

as far as i can tell the 2.4 front bumper looks exactly the same as the 2.0 minus the slots for the front valence. however the rear bumper is totally diffrent between the 2 since the 2.4 has that black peice in the middle where as the rear valence from a 2.0 wouldnt be able to secure on to it.
