Ok I searched on the forum, but I need to know after you remove the antenna from the rubber housing, is it a male or female end?

BTW: I would also like to know where I can find a shorty antenna that will fit the Cobalt's rubber housing without removing it from the car.

Yes the corvette antennas fit with no problem at all. If you search around you can find that antenna about $3 cheaper but ecklers is a great company. Go to the corvette forums are search around and you can find a lot of antennas.
