7MM Shorty Antenna

I got it from ARK on ebay for $36 shipped.

If your 2005-06 you want a 6MM
If your 2007-2008 you want a 7MM

I went with 10,000k with mine, light out put isnt that bad, and they have a nice purplish-blue tint to them. Got them from 3b, and they havent failed me since. Since your going for a nice white, somewhere in the 5-6k range is good for you. Just remember with 50w ballasts the temp drops about 1k, so if you go with 6k with 50w ballasts, it will look like 5k.

Appearance is something almost everyone wants to improve no matter what it is. Its when you make an appearance to be something its not, AKA super high spoiler thinking it makes you faster, SS products in no SS cars, fake s/c or t/c. Its the attitude that makes the appearance ricey. Sorry didn't mean to sidetrack from the topic, just kinda annoys me when people change around what terms actually are and classify people into categories they really are not in.
Does it matter if it is made to look faster?
Everyone here assumes that rice is associate with speed. How about making your car seem more classy and luxurious than it actually is?
HID's have been viewed as a 'luxury' option. Most people who convert with stock housings, do it cause it 'looks cool'... and don't care that the light output now sucks ass. Along with that, people who use 10000K and 12000K bulbs also don't care about the output, but care more about the look. Therefore, improper HID's will forever be rice in my opinion... fashion over function.

Then again, i think body kits and big rims are a waste of money too.... they just slow me down.

Higher Kelvin you go the less visibility you will get...not to mention they are illegal and quite annoying. 6K with a 50 watt ballast will prolly be the best best. Although, by going to a 50 watt ballast the 6K lights will be brighter and put out less color...

but in the end, it's your car and your choice.

For some people they do (the true rice). And your right, most people are going to do it because they like it, regardless of the trade off. But you still can't put everyone into the same category like that. Maybe those who are doing it only drive during the early mornings and evenings (when I think these looks best anyway) and very little at night. For them that light output decrease isn't going to really affect them. And more luxuious...so your saying if you can't afford ALL of it, you can't get any of it? That just sounds like some high class talk to those who are lower then them. You say it slows you down, but not everyone cares about speed, some just want their stuff to look nice.

Like me...I dont care about being 2 seconds quicker in a quarter mile. I dont race, but that doesn't mean I can't make mods to my car that I think make it look better. I am not disagreeing that 10000k or 12000k is improper, and that going to far is definatly a bad idea. But your definition of rice is incorrect. Fashion over function...I can see the point..but your view of it seems very...strict I would say. Basically I can see your view as calling anyway that is even 1 pound overweight as fat. There can be large, fat...obese...but fat is fat and thats it. Thats really what your view is, and well its wrong...wow no one going to read all that lol. I can see you though, wearing just a black t-shirt, steel toe boots, and some jeans...function > fashion right? Not insulting you, just trying to get a point across.

Im still trying to decide between 6000k and 8000k. Some 6000k just just white to me, but some 8000k is just to blue too. Wonder if 3b allows exchanges...really want to seem them both in person before I buy...

Well, your obviously offended by my opinion... and I find it funny.
Remember, function over fashion doesn't just affect the user... but others on the road. An improper or half assed HID job can blind or 'dazzle' other drivers. Just as a half assed suspension job can cause an accident if it fails. Rice is cheap, improper junk.... no two ways around it. If you cheap out and do a shitty job, your a ricer.

And about me and my clothing... actually, it's a brown O'neill shirt today... but the rest is right.

we weren't talking about things done badly, but what was done at all. Your assumption from your original post suggests anything above 4300k would be improper and rice done correctly or not.

Correction.. anything above 6000K as well as anything not in a projector (or HID designed reflector) is improper, therefore a hack job.
Lighting is no different than any other part of the car. Either do it right, or don't do it at all.

Amen!!! The higher frequency and thus higher energy light emitted by 8000K and above bulbs does nothing but blind the other drivers on the road because although the actual light output is less than a 4300K or 5000K bulb the light diffuses to a much larger extent causing all that glare.

What would you consider the Audi R8 from Iron Man closes to. I wanted that color, but obviously im not going to get a R8 just for that. It looks more blue then 6000k but not as blue as some 8000k

The OEM's only use 4300K or 6000K.... and there is a reason for that.

And I answered... it's 6000K. OEM's use either 4300 or 6000... if it's slightly blue, it's 6000K.

I had voted on the 10,000K - I thought those were pretty nice. Now after looking at photos and reading, I think I'm going to get 8000K when I get my CCFL projectors.. for some reason I think they're better than the 10,000K - and I think I'll also buy my kit from Vision Bulbs, their prices aren't bad.

^ Really? I wanted to go with 12k. My car is imperial blue and wanted to do the JDM yellow fogs, and gold/yellow turn signals. I would have thought the purple would look good with the combo i want.

I have had 8Ks, honestly, ill never buy 8ks again.
----Anything 8k or above DOES NOT reflect water-------
You can tell what color the bulb will be by looking at your color stick on the side of the bulb.
I wish more companies made a 7k it would be perfect.
I have a 6k in the stock housing and it works perfectly, I have had the projector and honestly on the cobalt they projectors look like ass with a black and yellow scheme IMO
