How much does it cost to paint a hood 2 tone?

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out what I am going to have to pay for painting my new hood soon. It is going to look like this:

I am going to have it painted like the one above, but in victory red / flat black down the middle. Painting victory red on both sides of the hood, and clearcoating all of course.

I've gone to one place so far for a quote, and they quoted roughly $470.40 in total labor, and $233 for total materials. Grand total with tax is $738.85.

This seems very expensive to me. Does anyone have a general guess as to how much painting a hood like this would cost, or a guestimate as to how much atleast?

Thanks,

Mike

$740 might be pretty much spot on. Just sand/prime/paint/clear the front and rear bumpers was $1700.

Go to a couple other shops and see what they say. It can vary area to area, sometimes by a lot.

Yea, I'm guessing that the lady at the counter was overpricing banking on the fact that I would go along with it. I am going to be going to a few other places on Friday to get other price quotes.

$740 is a bit much

I'd shop around at a few other places before you dish out that kinda cash

umm, remember that this fiberglass hood is going to need work to get it straight.

i would just get it painted vic. red and then have a vinyl shop cut the flat black for you. prob be cheaper.

Just so everyone knows, for future reference, the going rate for this type of paint job seems to be $400 - $585 depending on the place.
