How Much To Paint

How much would it cost to get a lip kit painted, say the RK sport lip kit all around?

I want it color matched to my car. Or if you could just give me an idea on just a front lip price color matched, that'd be fine too

anywhere you go with good quality it's not gonna be cheap unless you know them, and even then that might not help much. when i got a quote from the body shop (and we know the owner) for a new OEM hood painted it was $700, and i could get the hood for under $300, so i havent done anything with it

you figure 2-3 coats of paint + 2-3 coats of clear + a couple hours labor, my guess would be anywhere from $400/$500 on up...

I've always heard never go to Maaco for paint jobs... but they're cheap and I can't imagine for a lip.... they can't do that terrible. I'll sand it and prime it myself, I really just need them to paint it.

I guess I'll have to call a few good places and see their prices.

$200 for paint and install still seems a little high for just a front lip

If your willing to take your bumper off the car, then sand it down, and then primer it. Get a friend with a truck and put your primer bumper in the bed, go to Maaco, and have them paint and when your bumper is painted and ready to take home, take it home and install yourself. Why pay for them to install, it takes 20 mins by yourself

OP is a LT and is looking to get the RKsport front lip, thus no bumper removal necessary (and if you have big hands like i do it takes more than 20 minutes to get the fender bolts out ). but the RK should be a pretty simple install, i've heard it can buckle a little bit at times and be a touch too wide so the corners flair out thou. hopefully they've fixed that on the newer ones

Yeah, I don't need to take my current bumper off or repaint it... it's only the front lip which is seperate.

Lip, my bad, and 20 mins to put the full bumper back on myself. Have done it 4+ times, getting good at it, but still not cool enough to drive around with it off

You need a Subaru or Volkswagen to be allowed to do that

My front bumper is off atm... Might go drive around and see what kind of reactions I get from people lol

What I really want to do is drive around without my hood, Idk seems fun

To the op, you get what you pay for. You could sand it yourself but if you don't know to much about it you will mess it up and after paint you will have tons of orange peel. I learned the hard why by cutting corners and paying someone $150 under the table to sand/paint my rear bumper and lets say it looked worse than the bumper that had cracks in it

700 for just a hood and you know the owner? you must not be that great of friends! haha

I know the owner of a shop where my fiance's car was done,

we had

custom paint on the entire care
every panel needed to be fixed for a dent or ding from previous owner
painted the sides of her carbon fiber hood to match the rest of the car
cleared the engine cover that was cf
cleared and applied her cf lip spoiler
blended door jams
custom painted the lips of her rims a different color, along with the rear badge
2200$

no maaco crap

yea i know, i had a young girl swerve right across my front bumper/hood like 3 years back and haven't done anything since. other than a kink in the front of the hood you really can't tell the hood is buckled unless it's in the right light. i wet sanded/clay barred the scuffs in the bumper and they came out for the most part, and i had to put a stainless lag bolt in to hold the grille shell because some of the tabs broke off. i've been looking for a used good condition Ultra Silver hood or a used CF hood if i can find either for the right price
