L.E.D. help
well im a newb when it comes to wiring up l.e.d.s and stuff. but last night a friend and myself tried to wire some up last night. we had spliced the red and black wire thats connected to the cigarette lighter. we had wired up 4 leds and tested it. but nothing happened. seemed like we werent getting power. but then i plugged in my phone charger and the light that shows when its on didnt come on. so i think we either blew a fuse or shorted it out. could yall help me out
Start by checking the fuses, I don't remember if the cig lighter fuse is in the engine bay or in the passenger side of the center console, but that's my first stop. If that's not dead, then something else blew or shorted out. Did you make sure the LEDs were wired up with the correct polarity? If you wire them up backwards they won't work, and you may have thought something was dead when it really wasn't.
we were going to use this how-to to wire them https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/12-volt-power-tap-grounding-accessories-7241/. but my friend had the idea of using the ciggy lighter. the leds work. we tested them after, i took a watch battery and put it to them and each one lighted up. i am going to check my fuses and see if thats the problem. how would i wire them up with out using the ciggy lighter, what size fuse should i use for them?
i havent been in school for 6 yrs
damn im old. but im new to leds so it seemed like an good idea but i guess not.
thanks for the help. i just went and checked. the fuse was in the engine bay. it was blown. i swapped it out with a new one and it works

NEVER do your own wire splicing work when it comes to wiring UNLESS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE!!! Or just FOR SURE know what your doing and not "think" you know. sum bubble **** who thought he knew what he was doing messed with my sisters wires for the same reason.... problem after problem now.... electrical wise... I hope you didn't do too much damage man....
everything is fine. the fuse was blown that was it. it was a 15a fuse, and i put a new one in. it works fine. but i might get my cuz who does electrical work on vehicals do it for me
