need a qucik tip for plastidip

was just wondering how to get real clean lines when having an area taped off. i did two of my wheels, but along the spokes where i taped off, its not very clean looking once you get within 20 ft of it. i tried peeling the tape before it dried completely for the one wheel, had a bit better look, but still not clean enough. any suggestions? i doing just the faces of the spokes and leaving the rest of wheels silver.

Carefully run a razor or sharp utility knife along the edge of the tape before pulling it off.

Use index cards along the edge where the tire meets the rim and make sure you angle the plasti dip can accordingly to get into corners and nooks and crannies so you get the best results.

Oh okay, well in that case you'll have to angle the can so you can get the dip to wrap around the edge, that's what I did the last 3 times I dipped rims.

exactly. i saw yours and fell in love lol. taping is not a prob, just gotta be patient. thanks for the help, i thought i had to pull the tape before it dries, but failed lol. surface came out fine, edges like crap. when taping, go right to the edge or leave a hair of the inside exposed? gonna be devoting my weekend off to lowering the car and doing all my wheels.

to get desired clean lines when taping something off, all you need to do is

1. obv tape off the area
2. put on as many coats as you want
3. on the last coat, make sure you spray a but thicker, and while still wet, peel the tape, everytime you spray it liquifys the other layers of the dip under it, so it doesnt matter how many coats you have, just that last coat, make sure it is still wet when you pull of the tape.
4. your taping job will determine how clean of a line you get, if you wait till the dip is dry and try and pull it off, it will pull all of the underlying layers off of it as well
5. Your welcome lol
