New headlight idea - teaser pics

Basically got tired of the Black housing , still dont like the chrome ...and a big fat NO to the ebay lights . My goal was to match the bezel finish with the stock Gunmetal wheels , without using paint per say . I got a pint of clear and tinted it a little bit with a black basecoat paint to get a black chrome appearence to the bezel . I could only get a couple pics in because the clear is still wet , and it will prolly take all week to get it back together . Im trying something different with the square amber corner light too . Anyways , thought I would post up a couple pics anyways , I think it will look awesome .

Sorry if the pics are too bright , my monitor is starting to go bad and everything looks like brightness setting is at the darkest setting

I really like that. I was looking into that.

Didn't think of tinting a clear coat.

Thanks .

I wasnt too sure how it would work . I used a urethane clear , that u have to use a activator for which the black paqint does not require . It mixed fine though . I only had to use literally a few drops of black to tint it where I wanted . To spray , the paint shop I got the clear from also sold these jars with a screw on areosol adapter so I could spray it without a gun . Ive never used Nightshades , so I really have no clue ....but I was afraid of that being too dark right off the bat . Doing it this way I could at least control it .

I used Nason fast flash clear pt# 496-00 , Nason mid temp clear ativator pt#483-78 <--- u need that because the it cross links the clear and it chemically dries , NOT air dry . Since I needed so little the guy gave me a small touch up bottle of Dupont black basecoat .

Mix clear and activator 4 parts to 1 , and I used 4 drops of black

To my knowledge , no you cannot buy it like that . But , go back to the 4th post in this thread , I listed all the products I used . Substitute the black basecoat with GM Victory Red . And when I said touch up bottle of paint , I did not mean like the touch up paint u buy at the auto parts store , I dont know if that paint would mix well due to the fact there are other things added to it . The guy at the paint shop just put actual dupont basecoat in a empty touch up bottle I had to buy .

Man , this was over a year ago Short story , did the 2nd bezel ...put the clear on to thick and it bubbled and I forgot to use a flex agent in the clear so it started to crack off . I was really pissed I wasted the cash on 2 spare lights and the clearcoat and misc . and lost interest . I will have something similar to this by this spring with a black chrome inner bezel . I know how to do it right this time
