I think he did, All you do is put the Un-assembled headlight in the car, and tighten the nut as much as you can, and fine tune/turn the projector until the cut off line's are level.

Then re assemble.

 

If you can rig up a test bench you can do it with the lights off the car. Thats how the pros do it. They hook up the stock headlight, and tape the cutoff on the wall. Then they hook up the retrofit and try to match it as close as they can

 

all i really did was tighten the nut as snug as I felt necessary, then I could still twist them (with a decent amount of force) to line them up to level by hand making the minor adjustments. not really much more to it than that. pretty simple stuff for the most part. once they are level your set

I'd do that, but its rather hard doing so in your dorm room, which is what I've done in the past

Plus I guess I just like the confidence of knowing they are on the car and level like they should be. with all the different type of retrofits I have lined up to do for locals (on everything from gran prix, to wranglers, to tacomas) I'd rather just adjust them on the car if I have the ability to do so.

oh man do i want FXR's with 50w!!! Dont have the time/money/***** to go to a "true" retrofit yet.

I saw on HIDplanet, 94goldcorolla used Lexus LS430 Bixenons with 50w, and factory autoleveling! output is astonishing.

 

^ i was heavily debating going with 50w FXR's on the current retro I have, but I came to the conclusion I dont need something that bright. I mean sure its nice for short trips, but with long hwy trips I do in the dark its alot of strain on your eyes (i even noticed it on my MH1's w/o the foreground limiter). the extra install hassle with FXR is what then sealed the deal to stay MH1..

My buddy has the v3 fx-r with 50 watt. It's pretty bright


On another note... Anyone have any experience with a bulb called HIR. It's for 9005 and 9006 only. Supposing its 75% of the output as HIDs at 25% the cost. People on the jeep forums swear by them and say they are by far the best halogen product.

Ya. I've contacted a couple of retrofitters about my jeep and for what I want done all of them want over 2 grand. Lightwerks even wanted over 3 grand :S. so come summer ill probably try to attempt them myself.

 

^I was going to be building a set for my buddies tj, but I'm not looking forward to the process to say the least. the skill/work/time required to properly do a set is something that will be quite the experience for me to put lightly. the morimoto is like twice as long as the headlight is deep and there isnt a whole lot of room in the back of the headlight to give alternative mounting options that I've thought up

I can see how the quote for them would be so high

^you have to buy brand new aftermarket clear lens halogen headlights to rip apart, the stockers are sealed glass halogen beam none of this jeep projector mounting process sounds fun honestly lol

Not only that but have a huge reflector so pretty much any projector will fit in them

 

MH1 has been plenty for me so far... Don't even want to try FX-Rs or anything right now just not to spoil myself..

Lots of work... aligning, drilling, positioning, aiming... Not saying it's not worth it, just a lot of work.

How many retrofits have you done so far?

 

I would love to use the Panamera shrouds, but I'm afraid they might be too big. I'm considering either the E55 or the Iris shrouds for my next retrofit with EvoX-Rs.
