Paint

Hey I was wondering what kind of paint you guys used to paint your headlights or if you know of a good paint for plastic because I painted my headlights with Krylon for plastic and it sucked I did a bunch of really light coats and it ended up running and it kept splattering.

One trick that helps if you are going to be using spray cans would be to fill your sink with Hot water and place the can in the water for a few minutes. Make sure the water is not extremely hot as too much pressure is bad, but if you can warm the paint up a little bit it will thin out when you shake the can.

This will make it so when you go to actually spray the paint it sprays smoother with less splattering.

Most people on the board would use spray paint and wet sand in between coats.

Ima try that next time I spray somethin!^^

I used some regular duplicolor stuff with all of mine... if you sand it, make sure you smooth it out real good before startin to paint

Sorry should have specified I meant painting the housings for my retrofit. Painting the lenses would just be a bad idea IMO

I know it's a little more money but getting them painted with an actual paint gun is the way to go IMO. Looks so much better than rattle canned.

ehh mine came out fine i think, no issues noticeable unless you were right infront of teh lense and looking for flaws.

i use Duplicolor Engine Paint. I dont want the heat from the HIDs to cause any flaking

Ya I was trying to keep the price relatively cheap because I got q deal on the projectors and headlights...but I don't have access to a paint gun, Amy idea what a shop would charge

flat paints are always easiest to work with. gloss paints you have to be a lot more careful and patient. always reccommend a fan tip as it's much more difficult to get overspray with one. be patient if you missed a spot get it on the next coat. you rush it's gonna look like crap. krylon seems to work very well for me and i've painted A LOT of stuff. several sets of rims, engine parts, many many many many MANY headlights. any questions don't hesitate to pm me i'll see if i can help.
