paint or spray calipers?
paint or spray calipers?
I am going to be re -painting my calipers with G2 paint, as I used duplicolor before and it doesnt hold up too well on the rear calipers of my TC. Hold up well on the fronts but I think thats because its a smoother surface that I painted on to begin with.
But anyways, my question is, how difficult do you think it would be to completely mask the brakes and have this G2 paint sprayed on vs. painted with a brush?
I would think spraying would be a lot easier, quicker, and I'd get a perfectly even coat, but I'm wondering how difficult it would be to mask off every little area. I feel the masking might be very difficult.
If I were to brush it on, I dont have to do any masking, but I'm afraid it won't go on as evenly and I may end up missing some of the tighter areas, etc./
What do you guys think?

sprayed mine with high temp. paint(not necessary) but was super easy and took about 10 mins to mask it off and is holding up very well and with a coat of clear coat it helps keep brake dust off .....if you think it will look bad brushing it on then take the extra 15 mins to spray it.
I used G2 brush paint on mine like 2 years ago. Only one chip and its in a spot you can't really see unless your looking for it. Still get compliments on how shiny they look. I vote brush.
I will use the G2 paint either way. I just saw in one of their demo videos that there are aerosol guns you can buy to spray their paint on with.
For those of you that have sprayed the calipers, what did you use to mask the brakes and how hard was it? Im just worried about not masking enough and getting paint in places I dont want it. Or doing too much and missing area. They way I see it, the time spent masking will be saved once I spray which is a lot quicker than using a brush, just not sure I got the skills to mask.

masking the brakes off is a breeze and takes no skill.....its very easy to tuck tape underneath the caliper and all around it then use some news paper in the wheel well.As far as what to mask off I just masked off everything I thought shouldnt get painted.Plus with the wheel on you only see so much of the caliper.
Buy 2 bottles of brake fluid, mask the actual caliper boot after you take the whole caliper out and friggin spray it. Yes, more effort but you will be happy with the results, and yes, hit it with some clear to keep the dust out of the crevices. When I can afford it, I'm getting mine SB + PC =)
