I stuck them in the oven and pulled em apart, painted Satin black, back int he oven mushed it back together and put some silicone around it to help seal... I SERIOUSLY hope it doesnt leak because I love the way it looks

Mine went from really nice to really fucked this summer. Theres something about using cold water to wash a car on a hot day that messes em up. Mine are black and blue to match my interior so Im not too happy

just finished mine on sunday.., been a constant down poor since then, no leaky so it is very doable, just a pain to re-seal

It's not when it's raining that you'll see it.

When its wet for a while and then you have a hot day, the moisture in the headlight that pools behind the trim starts to evaporate and you get foggy lights. Best of luck!

Well updated I guess lol....

Its rained a few times, once was like a monsoon, and it was Foggy and INSANLY humid one night driving home and there is no moisture buildup in there, and trust me i've been checking its been done for over a week now and all seems good.
I've gotten a LOT of compliments on it

I guess my grandpa's industrial strength roof patch crap really did live up to its name haha! **** was expensive tho lol

He used that stuff to patch a leaking pipe and its been holding for a few years now lmao he swears by it, come to think of it when my dads suburban lights were leaking I think thats what he used to and it fixed them good, been sealed for a few months with it to now and no leaks on it.

oh if any of you are going to use that stuff it is fantastic but take your time its a bitch to make it look clean lol, use a silicone tool if you got one, I did, turned out fantastic.

Looks good. Painted housings are such an improvement.

I like how you kept the orange reflectors too. Don't see it as often. I like the amber-corner look.

also noticed i got a second pair of lights to do this too. they were from an 08, the lenses are smoked on the 08 compared to the 06 ones. looks way better with the darker lense too

Look good man, ery good job!!! Seeing how everyone is having good luck doing this to there stockers is giving me alot more confidence to do this instead of buying a set. Quick question tho wut temp did you bake them at?

Wut does everyone suggest wether to bake or to heat gun/hair dryer them?

Thanks

I baked 210F for 14-16 min, worked like a charm, the plastic wasn't soft or anything, and the **** just peeled right apart, make sure the gooey stringy sealent doesnt ooze onto housing as you pull apart cuz its a bitch to get off.

awsome tip I got on FB from a member here... put the headligths on a damp towel resting on the pan, that way theres no metal/plastic contact
