Painting Badges

I want to paint my SS badges flat black and trim in red
Also do the same with the bowties and flat black the turbo charged but paint the letters in red. The Car is black with black on black int, sun roof high spoiler and one of the first in San Antonio area. Very fun....
1. What prep do I need to do
2. Are all badges stuck on or are some bolted
3. What paint will work best
4. How do you think it will look
Also does anyone know how to tell what number SS you have by looking at the vin?
Thanks in advance for your help

i just painted my bow tie today...popped it out with a butter knife and primed it 3 coats...painted 3 coats...and clear coated like 6 times so it would be more durable(i hope)...post pics tomorrow when dry and back on..

the badges would be tough to paint like that i think..steady hand???

maybe?

I didnt know the bowtie popped into 2 pieces so I just used masking tape to tape off the chrome edge. I lightly sanded with 600 grit. I then used sandable primer. Wet sanded with 1000 grit. Put on a few coats of black then put on about 5 clear coats. Turned out really well

debadging was easy for me though ...all were slightly moveable and not stuck on real bad....

the c in cobalt was actually crooked

yep double sided sticky tape and a couple of small spots of ...(silicone)..not sure...was all that held it on..came right out
