Painting Calipers

I have a Victory Red Cobalt SS. I am so indecisive, I cannot decide if I want to paint the calipers red or black? What do you guys think?

The best thing to do is take a shot of your car from the side, import it into Photoshop and start playing with the colours...that should give you a good idea ! As slvrbalt said though make sure you use the right paint or it could fade and chip to all hell in a short period of time, especially if you plan on driving it in the winter being in MI. That salt and sand could do a real number on them over time.

Autozone sells a nice caliper paint kit...I think it's called Dupli-coler or something like that, costs 20 bucks. Looks damn good and so far not a single chip.

Red or Black, doesn't matter, either one will look bad a$$.

I've been thinking about painting my calipers too... Any tips? Do I need more than one coat? Will caliper paint hold up or do I have to keep repainting?

i painted my calipers, i dont have any pics, as my car is in the shop right now. i have a vic red base coupe and i painted mine red, and plan on getting black rims, would look horrid vice versa haha. when i get my car back i'll post a pic.

and yeah, i got mine from autozone. it says to do a couple of coats i only did one, but one coat uses barely any of the paint in the can they give you, it will last a long time.

Some high performance sports cars come right from the factory with red painted calipers like Porsche and Corvette, and its usually reserved for the highest model.

Plus its a mod, who doesn't love mods

I would say paint them black. It would be to hard to match the reds and I think 2 shades of red wouldn't look very nice.

I painted mine red with the Dupli-Color Caliper kit. You only need one kit, and you will have plenty of paint left over. The cleaner they include in the kit smell like carb cleaner, so you might want to get extra depending on how clean your calipers are.
By the way, I don't think it looks RICE at all, but you be the judge..

The Dupli-Color kit is good and cost about $15 to $20. I used it to paint my Eclipse GT's calipers and the paint lasted about a year before it started to fade. The Dupli-Color also has a flat to eggshell sheen to it, which causes dirt and grime to stick pretty bad. If you have the money, go with a G2 caliper paint system. This 2-part (paint and hardener) kit cost about $40 but it is the best. It also has a high-gloss sheen so dirt and brake dust wipes off very easily.

Here is my red ss with red painted caliburs (the duplicolor kit). You can't see a difference in the reds and I think it looks sweet
