painting chevy bowtie question?

I'm afraid if i take the chevy emblem off i will never be able to put it back on center. Would it be easier to just tape newspaper all around the back and do a thorough job of making sure paint wont get to the trunk, and just leave it on?

I'd just take it off and leave it off. The car looks cleaner with the bowtie debadged in the back.

If you wanna keep the badge, tape around it really good.
Better than taking it off and trying to get it completely center again.

Tape around it and put newspaper around it. Pretty simple. I just redid mine a week ago.

Or you can always use vinyl like I did on my front one.

or you can use a blowdryer adn a small pick to work the gold part of the bowtie off, then paint the gold part, and leave the chrome alone.

That is what I did to my car and worked perfect for me, left mine on the trunk though. I taped off the silver part, protected my trunk very well and did it with black plasti dip, so I could take it off and re do it if need be. Just did my front emblem too.

I vote for take it off and leave it off but if you want to paint, take it off, sand it a bit with LIGHT sand paper and spray it the right way, then stick it back on, trust me you'll be able to put it back on no problem, you'll see exactly why... the double sided tape leaves a mark on the trunk that's not visible after clean up with googone BUT it'll ALWAYS be there if conditions are right
