Question Painting an intake..

ok so i just got my Fujita F5 intake installed yesterday and now that i think about it, i hate the polished look...

can i paint my intake metalic silver to color match my car? im not worried about the painting, i have a family member who paints cars for a chevy dealer.. i just gota give him the color code and he can whip up the paint...

as far as the paint holding up, will it start to chip or peel because of the heat under the hood? what type of paint and clear coat would u guys recommend?

thanks for any input

scuff it, etch primer it, then spray the color you want. all can be done with a duplicolor spray can

yeah the main thing im worried about is the heat, and how it could potentially chip away at the paint..

the intake is made of aluminum, will the paint stick just as well?

Heat won't bother it. If you are really concerend, use the dupli-color engine enamel, its rated to way hotter temps than the intake will ever see.

Powdercoating would be best, but is more expensive. Lasts longer and looks better, but its up to you.

Any paint will stick just fine, as long as you sand the whole thing lightly first, then use an appropriate primer, then paint accordingly.
