Painting Seats?
Painting Seats?
Ok im tired of searching for black cloth seats or leathers...anyway someone recommended painting my seats with viynl/fabric paint from duplicolor! has anyone done this im just not sure if I want to risk it. if so pics would be helpful but some advice would be the best.
LOL FAIL. if you read... he's tired of looking for black cloth seats or leather seats, so by process of elimination he has the grey cloth seats.
as for the question at hand. I dunno if painting the seats would be a very good idea, I've used the vinyl and fabric paint, and it tends to wear off and starts to look grey putting you right back where you were with grey seats.
The next option you have is to get the seats recovered, this can be costly but you can have them done the exact way you want them right down to the stiching, and colors.
I dunno if this is true for the Cobalts, as I never really thought about it, in soime cars the seat covers can be taken off the seats, if they do come off you can dye them black. Acutally now that I said that I'm going look and see and if they do come off I'll be dying mine.

They do come off but I would be wary about dying them.
For fabric to take dye properly it needs to be quite warm, hot even. I would be worried about the covers shrinking / deforming.
This assumes the fabric they used will even take dye (some fabrics won't) - it might be worth your while to aquire a seat out of the wreckers and experiment on it.
Other option - there are a ton of places that sell replacement seat covers. If your budget allows you can get almost anything you want
