Painting stock grill...need help.

Ok I have a 2006 ss/sc and I wanna paint the stock upper grill black. Is there any certain way I should do this? Ive never painted anything in my life haha so any help would be nice.

follow these up until the point where you start cutting, it tells you how to remove it, then just do light even coats, followed by some clear coats...

I used metallic black (all my painted mods are metallic black) and it looks WAY better than the stock light black plastic. Do it.

Here you go. This is a close up of the painted upper grill and bowtie. Shows off the metallic flake.





And this is the full front, all done in metallic black



And for kicks and giggles, my custom headlights, also metallic black w/ a lil creative masking on the turn signal



If you want, you can pop out the grills in the back as well, painted them the same. Rear bowtie is also metallic black. I will post pics of her in all her WASHED glory later this week.

There are two fasteners on each back grill, just crawl under and push them out, use a lil force if needed. They are hard to break. I used a hammer to get them out and they didn't break.

hey did you have to remove the entire emblem from the body in order to get the Gold trim off to paint it? thanks man cause im looking at painting mine. btw what paint did you use to make your bowties black? i dont want metallic, just the black. how many coats? of clear and black? and was the black a flat? glosss? semi? thanks man apreciate it.
