Projectors in stockers help - bad cutoff

I had Gen 4's and was unimpressed then moved to a retrofit where I put mini morimoto's in my stock headlights and all is great. I noticed however that just like with my Gen 4's the driver side cut off is less than adequate and slightly discolored. The passenger side is perfect and wide just like how it should be. I had morimoto 5000k bulbs in before and thought perhaps this was the problem so I swapped them for a set of Philips 4300k and same thing. Could this be a ballast issue? I am at my whits end on this. I dont want to have done a retrofit and not be reaping the full benefits of it.

Thanks

I am going to see if this might be a bulb spacing issue tomorrow...Possibly with pics.

All retrofits look like that, I don't know why
I had that issue with my old set of FX-Rs and I still have it with my Morimotos.

I have seen this before. It has to do with where the focal point of the HID bulb is, inside the projector. Yours are probably pushed back just a little, which is why it's throwing the light off. If the base of the bulb is plastic, take a file and file down the locating nubs just a little bit at a time.

excellent, thanks...it does look like the base is sitting a little goofy, hopefully some adjusting of that will fix it.

Hard to tell by the pics, I used my Droid in the rain to take them.

Both together

Driver side - bowed and discolored

Passenger side - perfect

i know some of the morimoto's had issues with issues talk to the company you bought them from.. it also looks like hot spot isn't positioned on step up like it should be .. also.. you need to aim those lol

bulb spacing will deteriorate your cut off even more if you're moving the bulb back a mm or two.

the only way to get a sharper cut off is to either move the bulb closer or swap lenses.

I'd prefer the latter over the former.

FIXED! i just had to tilt the bulb up a little bit since the focal point was aimed too low on the cut off shield. It looks perfect now.

Thanks everyone for the help
