Question Question about painting dash

I got a question about painting the dash. The how-To say to sand and prime but the paint I got say no sanding or priming needed..Do I still need to sand and prime anyways? I got black paint and clear but I don't have sand paper or primer.

Ok man, If I was you I would still sand and make the plastic smooth, makes it look better. You should sand it down, Clean it, make sure its dry, Use Rustoleum Plastic Prime, fine sand it and use a color match(or your choice) color paint, then clear..........Don't use that crap man........

Check out the how to guide, theres a thread on how to paint your interior trim and dash, its a good write up and will help you out pretty good, and its the right way to do it

Honestly? I don't know too much about that paint.....But with my experience, anything you don't have to prime and sand looks like ****. You can try to use that stuff, it might look good if you just sand. Not sure with that stuff though. But None The Less, Sand It!!!
Krylon is a really good paint for plastics......I used the regular Krylon Gloss Black for my eyelids, side marker lights and interior trim, its good stuff......You can try to use the stuff so you didn't waste your money on it, and if it turns out good then hey, goos stuff.....If not, go regular krylon

We used plastic dip for painting my friends mirrors covers. If you don't like it, you can just peel it off.

Plastic dip painting is good, but doesn't last long..........

Yeah, Never use a whole can of spray paint......When it gets low it loses most of its PSI and begins to strow larger "globs" of paint........And you can't really tilt the can when you need to either

Don't want to sand if I don't have too..but I want a smooth finish but looks like I need Dupli-color primer for shore.

I did not sand my bowtie and it came out smooth.

Yeah, it's expensive as far it's being compared to regular spray paint. But plastic dip IMO isnt for parts that can be chipped.

We just used it just to see what it looks like in black.

I used that dupli color no primer too. Never sanded it down for my bow tie.

If it says no primer, then you don't need to prime. Because the spray paint is made intentionally to stay on those surfaces metioned on the back of the can.

If I try it and don't like it I can always paint over it with primer right? If so I'll try it out today if not got to wait till I get my pay check in the mail I don't think the $3 I have on me going get me far as primer goes ^ . ^

and how do you take off the damn glove box? All I have for tools is a 50 peace ratchet set

but it wouldnt bother to put primer on it. i always primered plastic. everythime i dont no matter what paint it will run off or leave little specs in the paint. id Primer. But as far as sadning on dash i dont think its a must. i hate krylon and all those sprays. Dupli-color for me. Since Dupli-color says FOR CAR TRIM. on the can!!!!
