quick question about painting bowtie

I am trying to remove the gold bowtie from the chrome so i can paint it easier. I heard using a heat gun works, but i don't own one. Would a hair dryer work? also does it just pop off or do u have to pry it open? let me know. thanks

I just took a small flathead screwdriver and pryed it apart.

2 coats of primer, 2 coats of paint, 1 coat of clear it's how I did mine and it's great!

If you are worried about damaging the bowtie you can always warm it up (i.e. heat gun, blow dryer, oven) BUT DON"T OVER HEAT, it could melt. I used my girl hair dryer on it just to warm up the 2 sided tape and it came off really easily

lol, not sure, just heat for about 20 - 30 seconds and then attempt to pry it off, if its still hard then heat a little more

i tried to take the whole chrome and everything off the back then realized that was stupid and just took the gold piece off. get 2 lil flat heads and stick them between the chrome and gold and lightly pry. move to all sides and lift a little. i kinda kept moving in a circle around the bowtie as it started to loosen up.

yea you wont see much of the chrome on the bottom of the front so thats not a huge deal
