Re-chroming stock wheels

ok, so I have a dilemma, I really want to paint my stock wheels (leave the lip chrome and paint the star black)... but the chrome isn't in the best shape and i think painting the star will make the chrome look that much worse... is there any way to get the chrome redone? and if so where? and what kind of price range would i be looking at?

The stock rims are just polished not chrome. You can buff the lips and make them shine like new though.
