do you have any pictures of the rust on the rotors. I am assuming if it doesn't come off, the rust is located around the veins of the rotor on the outside where the brake pads do not touch?

rust on the non-contact surfaces of the rotors is perfectly normal. You could remove them, wire-brush all the rust off, clean them well and paint them (the hub and the vanes), but it may not hold. Best bet is to get some zinc coated rotors when you replace them if it bothers you.

ummm your rotors shouldn't really be rusting lol at least not constantly staying there even after you go and brake since water can put the rust on there too when u wash ur car

If you are seeing rust on the contact surface, where the pad hits, before you drive the car, it's normal. If my car sits in the rain while i'm at work, there is light surface rust on the rotors when I get in it to drive to lunch. That thin layer comes off as soon as you touch the brakes the first time.

The rust on the rest of the rotor is more permanent since nothing cleans it, but as I said and others have provided links for, you can get new rotors with a zinc coating that will protect the rest of the rotor. Or, you can not worry about it, as long as the brakes work good, that's all that matters.

x2 ^^^^^^^ unless your rotors are zinc plated then theyre gonna rust in the non contact areas. like near the center and at the edges. its normal. wish i wouldve known this before i bought the gmpp slotted/drilled rotors. theirs arent zinc plated

Perfectly normal. I suggest, if it bothers you, you get some new rotors that are coated so they don't rust. Otherwise, you could take them off, wire-brush all the rust off, sand them down, paint them, and it should help.

If its that big of a deal go pay 200 for new ones that are zinc platted. If not just wait till you have to buy new ones then make sure you opt for the zinc platting.

If your willing to, you can always get them blasted and PCed.

I took the car to the shop today. It goes back Wedsday to get the rotors rust free, and painted.

100 bucks for all four.

He said its weird that only the front ones are so bad. While the back ones are not bad at all.
