grille painting help

hey all, i'm gonna buy a ss/tc upper grille for my ls within the next few weeks and i want to paint it flat black. can someone give me advice/directions on doing the painting properly? i saw on one forum that you need to sand/rinse/primer/(color of choice)/clear, but then ive heard that you only need to paint and then let it dry and it will be good to go. which method would be the best and withstand rain, snow, and hot weather the best?

thanks

It's more gray than flat black. I painted my bowtie flat black and it's a huge difference.

Agree. Paint it. I can tell such a difference. I used Kyrlon Fusion. All I did was clean it then let it dry. Don't use anything with soap or oil in it.
