Side Markers..?
Hey guys..
I've been thinking a little lately that a set of side markers might look cool on a Cobalt.. Not to be all hardcore JDM / EDM or anything, but just for a different look.. Not amber colored, but clear / smoke.. Like the ones below on the 9-3.. Another Saab has the same markers but in a dark smoke.. They look really good.. If you placed them right I think they'd look very OEM.. If I wanted to do this, how would I wire it up? Just splice into the existing front tirn signal wires..? I know I'd have to drill a hole for the wire/bulb, but that's OK.. Any ideas..?
Thanks!

and OP dont do it! no need to change the cosmetics of the car with more lights. i personally think it would look tacky.

Exactly. Proper placement and proper side marker housing would be key. It would have to look like it was meant to be there..
How would you wire it in though? Just splice into the front turn signal?

i think it should be sliced into either the front or rear sidemarkers
i tapped into those wires with a resistor to slow down the blinking with the LED signal bulb...so it think those are the signal wires
If you have an 07 just go right ahead and splice into your turn signal wire. For 05-06 you could just negative relay to your turn signals, it'd get screw at night though unless you wanna use a bunch of relays for the whole setup. Having said that, the wiring is the least of your worries for side markers.
Have you seen the video of the new 270z? it's side blinkers are actually the "Z" badge. It looks good on that car. I don't know about the balt though.
The OEM sidemarkers do stay on while driving if I'm not mistaken.

370Z? Yeah that looks cool. The OEM Cobalt rear sidemarkers come on with the parking lamps, but splicing into that wouldn't be of any value here.

Some side-markers stay on all the time, but I want these ones to only blink with the signals.. Most work that way.. Most side markers like pictured, at least..
This video is what I was talking about. At 01:22, it shows the side blinkers. It would be cool if they were like that on the balt with the GM badges or maybe even the SS badges.

I'm sorry to see what hey did to the Z.. Ew..
And yes, I agree with you about the rear marker lights.. I hate those.. But AGAIN.. I do not want these to stay on full time.. ONLY to go off when the turn signals do..
