Smoking headlites and tailites
I like it but I don't think I would honestly go that dark (mainly because of the cops around here) but I like the dark dark red better. I guess I just like appearance mods that look like they could have (or should have) been stock
Lighter coats of VHT give it a darker look but not really black. Sorry, sick, i think black taillights look dumb. And besides, that's not smoking them, that's blacking them out. Smoking i think looks awesome
This is what i did with mine, prolly about 3-4 light coats, but i prolly would go a little darker (maybe one or two coats) if i were to do it again. Use photoshop, and put a black translucent overlay on the taillights and then change the opacity until you find a shade you like.

I put 5 coats on mine and its dark but at night u can still see them fine and in the day they show up pretty good imo, and they dont look cheap if u take ur time and do them right. Also if u clear coat them it looks even better.
That's the best setup. Here is a pic of the LED tails. More pics in the link.

If anything smoke the back ones if you want to and then do some vinyl strips in the front.
Heres a shot of mine from before it snowed. Only regret I have is not getting the right clear coat the first time and having to redo them. I might strip it all off this spring and redo them so they come out better now that I know what I am doing.

For me I am trying to go with a very stealthy black look for my car so blacking them out was the way to go.

the cheapest and easiest appearance mod would be to smoke the rear tails and paint your stock headlights and add eyelids if desired.
i smoked my stock tails but not as dark as most

if smoking get the VHT nightshades and spray 3-5 coats and hold can about 6" away. don't want to get just overspray as it will look like **** if you do. i then sprayed a couple light coats of clear to bring out the shine. the above pic is an old one. i had to redo them all cuz i went through the car wash and it peeled some of the smoke off. that's when i decided to clear coat them as well.

LED tails for the win. Look at this thread and make sure you look at post #5.
