tinted tails concern

so i have my tails/sidemarkers/3rd tinted with nightshade, i did it in the bright sun, like an idiot and they came out real dark. during the day my brake lights arent great, but they are visible. my 3rd brakelight is awesome actually, i didnt do it too dark like the rest. but now i got tints too, 20%. so i have a lil problem backing up. im thinking about replacing the bulbs in the outter and inner lights. the sidemarkers and 3rd are good to go in day or night.

tl,dr; im looking for brightest/high wattage bulbs or LEDs. im a little hesitant with LEDs cause i dont want to have to learn about the resistor and putting that crap in, also its a lil pricey but i wont stray away from leds completely. i have looked thru superbrightled's.com but im not too sure what to get, aside from obviously 3157/921 style bulbs/leds.

Try wetsanding them. It'll take off the tint. After that you can always retint them. I have a friend who works at a body shop and he made up a mix of super thin black paint for tinting the tails on my friends mustang and on my other friends supra. He can clear them too so they'll be as glossy as your tails were when you first bought the car.

i thought of that, but i like them being real black and not seeing any red thru it. i would prefer to just find bright lights at a decent price rather than have a slight red tint. also its a hell of alot easier to swap a bulb than take em out and repaint haha, im getting lazy as the summer comes to an end.

I feel you. My tails are almost as black as my car and still light up at night.

Put your windows down when backing up... Even with your reverse lights not tinted at all you won't be able to see to back up w/ 20% tinted windows.

I've also been thinking about LED tail lights so I can tint mine and still have decent light shine through. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-07...=p4506.c0.m245 These say direct replacement, but has anyone tried em? I'm worried for shelling out 100 bucks for something that won't give me what I want. Also Ryaan, if you end up repainting them or getting all new tail lights (like the link above), just tape over the reverse light (just the clear part) before you paint.

I made a How-To for that.

Enjoy.
