Trim painting help....

I need a lil direction from some of our more senior painters.... I painted my trim metallic blue. All the pieces turned out fine except the passenger dash piece. It was good but jusrt a lil dark in spots where it went on wet..... I tried sanding and repainting....no joy... i decided to take some ultimate goo gone and get rid of all the paint....i did and now the piece is down to the stock primer... Some of the primer coats keep getting knicked and im forced to sand or just keep removing....i stopped at a point where it wasnt bad..... I got some deep scratches in the primer.... Im wondering if i should keep sanding down the primer or keep removing layer after layer untill it is smooth with the goo gone.... Any types....... Or if i should fill the cracks with something and sand, and if so what do i use? Im at a stand still right now....any help would be appreciated.

Just sand the piece with 320-400. Then if you can re prime them. Im a auto body tech and always prime my work after im done to fill small imperfections then sand it smooth. But in your case I would just suggest sanding the piece down with 320-400 till its smooth. The paint will cover the 320-400 stratches as well.
