We carry the Lotek pillars, and that's who we were going to have try an produce them.

If they are willing to get it made, we'll certainly help out and get the group buy running and make sure the 30 minimum order mark is reached asap buy buying as many as needed.

We may be able to get the price down a tad more as well...

Does anyone know the part number for the stock pillar with the air bag? I may be able to get one of my friends to make a mold and a pillar if i can get my hands on a spare.

You can count me in, I wouldn't mind having a couple extra gauges to look at, it would keep my finger of that silly little info scroller on the odometer.

Keep the stock boost gauge, maybe air/fuel, and oil pressure or volts. Of course, the triple pod would have to work with side/curtain air bags. Definitely a good idea, though.

if u really need to mount a gauge...why don't you put them where the vents are in the middle of the car. be creative....fabricate somehting yourselves. or make something to go under the radio or somehting.

Bringin it back to the top. Anyways, I figured i'd give it some time and check with the various companies once again to see about the pillar pod. I sent e-mails to both AutoMeter and Lo-Tek. Here is the response from Lo-Tek:

We are looking into it. There are federal safety laws that prohibit
alterations to areas where air bags are located. Since the airbag option
is there we may not be able to produce a product for the a-pillar. There
is no way we can gaurentee that our product will not be put on a car
equipped with the airbag.

We are willing to look at other areas of the car life the steering column,
dash area. If your car has an alternative location please see our project
infor page at www.gaugepods.com. We may be able to do a project with you.

Original Message:

I was just wondering if your company was going to be producing pillar pods
the chevrolet cobalts w/o the side air bag option. There is a large demand
for these as I am on some Cobalt related message boards and many people
would like to have one of these. Thanks.

Tom VanHorn

I still have not heard from AutoMeter yet.

So what do you guys have for ideas for a place to mount these other than the pillar? If we have enought intrest in one or two designs, maybe we can set up a project with them and get something started.

In three weeks I am going to mount my gauges via Saleen Mustang style (older ones) and place them on the center dash on a slight angle, that or line them up along the end of the gauge cluster where it comes down closer to the radio.

I heard the talon or focus a-pillar pods can be fabbed with a heat gun the a-pillar and sand them down/paint em after getting the shape you want. I'm likely to go to a custom performance shop or Lindesy Hunter Car Customs shop and see what they can do for me. Tired of this waiting game.

The center mount gauges would look sweet. I want a company to make them for our car. It looks like you would have to drill holes in the dashboard though to make the pod stay put in the center on the dash. I just don't want to do that. They also have those steering wheel column gauge pods but I think they look too tacky.

Just use some very good 3M Adhesive that doesn't discolor the dash. You can get thin strips that make it looks flush on the dash. No drilling required. It can be done.
