Warnings while painting calipers?

I'm new to car modifications, in fact about 3 weeks ago my brother and I installed the k&n intake without a problem. (he's got experience modifying cars) As stated in the title, I am curious if there's anything that can harm the brakes/anything in the general area while I paint my calipers. I realize painting calipers is extremely basic for most people, but I just want to be cautious going into this and take any precautionary step necessary to avoid potential disasters from happening. I have 2 jack stands, and I plan on doing the front calipers first, waiting till they dry then moving to the back calipers. Before I paint I am going to spray brake cleaner on the calipers, then sand them down to remove any bumpy surfaces where paint would be an uneven spread, then move on to painting. (in this order, correct me if i should be doing it differently). I also bought some vinyl's that say "cobalt" which I planned on putting on my calipers after they're painted- I didn't even think about this when I bought them, but will the vinyl be able to withstand the heat the calipers are exposed to? Thanks in advance for any advice you guys feel is necessary to give. Keep in mind i'm new to car modifications so please be kind in your responses.

if you dont get paint on the rotors youll be good, also you will not need to sand down the calipers if you use actual paint on brake paint such as folia tech which i have used before on 2 different vehicles of my own. it is almost like a foundation as well as a paint so the end result will be a smooth finish. while you paint it on tho itll look like ass, and look high in spots and lower in others but will uniform out as it drys. goodluck and show pics when its done! I think the cobalt vinyl will be a nice touch, just dont know how it will hold up.

Use high temp engine paint. its the same thing as caliper paint at 1/2 the price.

awesome, I wasn't sure how they'd hold up seeing that you need special heat tolerant paint for the calipers..

any particular reason why? I've seen lots of vids of people using spray paint, and i'm sure it will be much easier to spread an even coat on the caliper then if i were to paint it manually

you didnt read my first post then did you? the folia tech spreads itself evenly over the caliper, wont get crappy in a year or two like the spray paint, and you dont need sand paper as its also a foundation like girls makeup and is smooth once applied.
