What Color Paint for Calipers???

I have a yellow ss/sc with the yellow inserts. I really want to do that brake caliper painting. My only problem is, I don't know which color to use. Any opinions would be great!!

It's a toss up between yellow, red, or black

LOL ok red is out of the picture. Now, i'm liking the black a little bit more. However I want that high gloss finish. Do you know what a good company is to use that has a high gloss finish for the black?

haha, yeah if a male does something like that, they need a smack.
However if its an attractive female, then it's 'cute'.

I'd go with high-gloss black.

if you want kind of a metalic look...spray some silver metalic before hand...then overcoat with your color, and spray clear over that...you will get a high gloss metalic color that will stay that way too.

Thanks badg1rl. I might try that. I just want something that you can notice but like you guys said, red will make it look like kethcup and mustard. What if I got them dipped in chrome??? A black chrome like those black chrome wheels.

I still don't have my car back yet so I have some time to think about it. But thank you every one for your opinions and suggestions.

I would go with Black to match the wheels. I used Gloss Black Rustoleum that was brushable. It is high temperature and cheap.

I still like the dipped in chrome black idea but that would definately cost me an arm in the leg and I probably wouldn't be able to drive my car for a day.

you don't have to take them off if you use the duplicolor kit as it is a brush on kit...but you might want to use masking tape on parts you don't want to get paint on just to be safe

Red face

Sunday afternoon I decided to paint my calipers, I roll in the Amethyst Metallic so I decided to go with purple! I bought a red and a blue DupliColor kit and mixed the paint 50-50 and it gave me a nice grapey color. My only beef with this kit is the cheapo applicator brush it comes with tends to fray, so you have to watch out for stray hairs getting into your paint job.

The real joy of this kit is that it comes with a TON of paint, enough to do your whole kitchen and about 14 sets of brakes. While I'm wheelding away my afternoon, my neighbor comes out and says, hey those look sweet!

Can you do mine?

Sure, I says. For 20 bucks for the cost of the paint, and the hassle of it all.

Great, he says. Later after my purple pinchers are setting up and I've started on his Mustang (red on red) a friend of his drops by and asks what what I'm doing to the man's car.

Paintin' calipers, I say.

Cool! Can you do mine? says he.

Longer story short as of this afternoon, I've done 7 sets of brakes, including mine. Paid for the kit and came out enough ahead to buy myself a K&N Filter, and a TWM shifter knob I've been drooling over, with enough paint for touch-ups if it happens to chip. I doubt it will this stuff dries up HARD.

Take your time and this kit will do you right.

Pics to come!

I have a Laser Blue Metallic SS. I want to do mine soon, but I'm still stuck on the color. I have it down to Red, Yellow, or Black. That's the order I like them in (from most to least) as well. I'd love for other opinions on it though.
