Air Splitter Installed . Finally

Well Finally installed my Air Splitter. Its 3.25 inchs wide at the very center on the nose and just needs touched up on the corners with the file to remove a couple sharp edges. The leading edge can be adjusted up and down about a half inch in either direction . Heres some pics

It would be useful if it was about an inch off the ground. Unnecessary weight and messing with the aerodynamics in a bad way.

Its made from ABS $60 a sheet from Curbull Plastics and is stiff but flexable. 1 inch off the ground will never work on the street especially in the Northeast . I use my car for more than just autocross and road course although I do lower it when I go to the track. I got the adjusters from track Dog Racing as well as the Nylon breakaway bolts.

I do mostly Autocross where it will be banging cones instead of my lip.

It sticks out on the side just enough to hit the cones which Im very good at. It ends even with the edge on the wheel well opening.

Weight 2 pounds with screws

Thanks. There is enough material to make 2 of them in each sheet . Plus still a lot left after that to make other stuff. Carbon fiber is in the $400 range for a sheet of .060 thick. To pricy to be smackin cones and what with

I took the bumper cover off which made working on it a breeze. After I had it lined up the way I wanted it I drilled a hole on each side close to the wheel well opening. I then removed the lip and drilled the rest of the holes. The braces were installed after I got it back on the car.

Question is does it actually help improve aerodynamics?

Not unless it's close to the ground. It's to high up. And even when its close to the ground, without an under tray, you won't reep anywhere near the benefits you should.

I guess it would depend on a few things such as how low the car is and the angle its set at. As for autoX it wouldnt do much except protect the lip from cones. I looked at the ones I saw at the track and online a they all look very similar

Im working on the under tray as we speak. Need to make a few measurements. Air dam would need removed also. I have enough material left over. How far back do you think I should go ?

I'm under the (perhaps mistaken) impression that the the air dam does pull some amount of air and routes it into the radiator. Will making an under tray and removing the air dam cause any cooling issues?

Hmm if that was the case wouldnt the car overheat sitting in traffic. Will have to study that a little more
