I read that the spoilers used on the 70 thru 81 firebirds actually work very good. Its just a simple blade style. Picked one up cheap off ebay to mess around with

I have my stock trunk but its black and shipping wouldn't be cheap. i like the way the splitter looks. the g5 rk sport rear lip kind of has diffusors on it bit the vortex generators are definitely cheaper

You all are referring to the lil black plastic strip that hangs down by the radiator as the air dam? If so, mine has been off for 5yrs without issue... I get ~185-189 coolant temps at cruise

yea as long as I was SC I NEVER had any issues with overheating. Even sitting in hours of traffic the car would get to mid 190s max. I think you will be ok removing it.

my buddies ion redline would get HOOTTTTT if you were cruising over 70 on the highway without the airdam, after 70 it would kill the fans and i guess the ions airflow wasnt the same as the cobalt.

was he running an aftermarket heat exchanger or the stock one? after checking out sum stuff around here I can see most of the overheating issues that some had couldve been linked to having an aftermarket heat exchanger in front of the ac condensor.

yea, thats about right. The aftermarket ones block the main passage of air in the front. That could def be the cause of it all.

I understand how it can lead to cooling issues. I do not understand why mine hasnt had those issues as others have. I live in Texas so it gets very hot here.
