auto-x 2.4?

I know that they have classes for every car, but is the G5 GT just going to look dumb if I were to get into auto-x? (p.s. its a auto.....) Also I have been reading that its really hard on brakes and suspention... Im not worried about breaking parts cause I have a 100K mile full warranty and im sure no one would notice if I came in and had a few things replaced due to autocrossing... I wouldnt tell them that I was autocrossing of course lol

so I geuss I'm just looking for some opinions... is it as fun as it looks and is it worth it? lol thanks!

The important thing is that you go and have fun. Who cares the car the class the place cause no one will be top tier their 1st time.

Yup, go have fun. Your car will perform just fine. You'll probably see a bunch of people there in shitbox hondas (which do very well). Your car is a small part of the equation, it's more about driver skill and finding your rhythm out on the course. For an auto you will probably want to leave it 3 or 2 so it does not try to go into overdrive. If you start, it will become addictive

98% chance your not gonna break anything. The 2.4 should do pretty well locally in HS (HS I think, anyway?) The greatest thing about autox IMO is the amazing variety of cars. I've seen everything from a rusty 87 Ford Ranger to an ACR Viper. Show that your out there to learn and not show off and all the vets are gonna respect you.

I've always wanted to autox an auto, I have a feeling the family hauler Mazda3 may see some action next season.

Auto-x really isn't that hard on your car, much less so than drag racing. Chances of you breaking something are very slim. Wear items like tires, brake pads and shocks will take a beating, but other than that it's not too hard on your car. It's probably less abuse than a lot of the people on this site put their cars through on a daily basis Go out and try it, it is a ton of fun.

North West region SCCA

I used to autocross my 2.4 SS Auto when i still had it. i think if it is stock the car would be in D Stock class but they put me in STX because of my tune -_-. didn't matter to me because im there to learn and have fun anyway.

autocross is really only hard on the tires. make sure you go with some good summer tires because seems like most all season tires dont like stress from autocross. its not that hard on the suspension and brakes

SS/TC is a DS car, I believe like Jboogie said above the SS/NA(G5 GT) will be a HS car along the base civics, scions, etc..

Try SCCA, and also look up local miata, mustang/SVT, and Vette clubs. Chances are on any given weekend you can find at least one auto-x in your area. IMO the best place to start would be one of the car clubs (non-SCCA). From my experience they generally give you a lot more seat time, with a lot smaller field so you have more time with instructors as well as longer courses. SCCA is great, but in my region the events generally have 180-200 entrants, which leads to very tough competition and not a lot of seat time. The other clubs are competitive, but with significantly less competitors(generally 50-60) it's a little more relaxed environment and great for learning. Showing up to your first auto-x and there are 200 other cars there can be a little intimidating. Just my 0.02. But, most important thing is to have fun(it's not hard to )
