So I took a SS/TC for a drive 2 weekends ago, and here are my thoughts...

1. I haven't driven a small car in awhile, and compared to my GP GTP and LT1 Trans Am, it definitely had a smaller feeling to it. I credit this partially towards the sport seats, which I think would just take some getting used to.

2. For reverse, you have to pull up on the ring on the gearshifter? The gearshifter covering was over this, so it took me a few seconds to get figured out. How are these trannies to shift into reverse generally, pretty decent? (My T56 in my firebird is a pain, the reason I ask). Also, it is a fairly short shifter in the car, though at the end of the test drive, I was getting used to it, and I would probably like it once I had gotten really used to it.

3. The clutch, I found it wanted to start going the instant you lifted your foot off of it, wasn't used to that, usually most standards only start going after a little while. Though to be honest, my Trans Am clutch has 235xxx kms on it now, so it could be little worn lol. Getting into 1st was a bit of a challenge without a little hiccup...

4. The torque in 2nd and 3rd at less than 2k rpm was VERY impressive, I would say better than either of my current cars. Otherwise, sometimes there was a little turbo lag, but really, most of the time I am taking it easy anyways so this is not an issue for me. Plus it could of had regular gas in it, dealerships do that sometimes. Hard to gauge without heading out to the highway, which I figured I wouldn't do unless I was at the car buying stage of the game.

5. Suspension wise, took some rough bumps pretty well, handled, at least at slow to medium speeds, as well as my Trans Am, so that is a good thing.

6. A lot of people complain about the "cheap interior" but I find you have all the amenities you might want. That being said, I wouldn't mind a nicer interior, but understand completely it is decent especially given the price of the car.

7. I heard that they brake really well, and I didn't do any crazy braking, but it seemed to be fine and brake feel was good, though I guess I was expecting more, but a harder test drive would probably reveal that.

Overall, I liked the compactness of the car, and the little gas economy readout was very positive (are they accurate?, I know my GTP can be off...), and it was fairly satisfying to drive. I think the only reason I am slightly down on the car, and no fault of its own, but I have been in/driven some of the G8 GT's/GXP's, and man I really like those. Again though, for the price, performance, and all weather capability, I can see really liking the SS/TC.

Wow, sorry for the long read lol. Your thoughts are welcome!
