Manitoba SS's 2011 Thread!
Yea Ive def been thinking about going that route, just not 100% sure yet as it still has full warranty til march. Was just thinking of getting GMS1 for now as I can get it for prob around $500 from the states.
13ish is roughly what id like to get for it. I just dont see it happening. My buddy that does the arbitrating says you'll usually get 1k-1500 above MPI's offer? He also suggested I wait til I settle with MPI to go and take my rims/parts off.. What do u think?
With my cavalier I got offered $4000 and settled at $6500... Just don't take no for an answer. If you are in no rush just take no for an answer and ride it out. They will want to get it off their desk eventually lol

as a matter of fact, all 2010 Canadian Cobalts come with every single "option" (not to be confused with 'accessories') that remained on the books at the end of the 2009 model year;
the USA destined cars had one option left on the book's - G85.
Ummmm FYI Jordan, you are a younger person. So should I stereotype you have done nothing but beat the **** out of your car? Even though you look at it and it looks like hell and has seen 330whp most of it's life. I would say your car has seen a much harder life than a 2010 stock TC with 11,000k
line up your car beside that red-grilled car, and I'd wager that at least nine out of ten people questioned would point to your car being the bagged out pos...
as questionable as painting the grille red, or wheels black might be, other than those aesthetic changes (which probably cost $20 in rattle-can paint), or the lowering springs (again largely aesthetic) - it appears otherwise totally stock;
I would tend to think that the former owner loved that car, but after a spell got bored, and wanted something 'new'...
I have observed that the first thinks typically changed on Cobalts are:
- shifter
- springs
- radio
but mods plus mileage are the keys...
sorry man;
I was going to post my thoughts but I saw you made this reply before I came back here...
I strongly believe that autopac tries to take these off the roads as a passive means of reducing their risk...
I'm pretty sure this is their logic:
less high powered tuner cars on the road = less accidents
unless autopac has an alterior motive in writing it off...
I mean they have already offered you more than the car's damage is estimated to be at ~ so from a purely fiscal sense, wouldn't it be a better business move for them to fix the car ~ this costs them less in the short term, and completely removes any paper-shuffling or office work (and overhead) involved with writing it off, then auctioning it off...
sorry man... but when I moved back to Alberta, I heard some people scoff at higher insurance rates ~ but now that autopac rates match or exceed Alberta's (read: private) insurance rates, you really need to question where are their cost over run's which necessitate the higher rates which autopac is currently charging...
SGI is still cheap...

FYI: when I moved back to Alberta (and I'm pretty sure I have paperwork to prove it) my '70 Firebird was costing $300/year to insure with full coverage, and $1mil liablility...
FYI-2: when i first moved here I was paying roughly $300/month for plpd.
assuming you're talking about the black car, sorry...

as much as that might sting, sorry man;

I'm pretty sure this is their logic:
considering the damage was pegged at $7500 - and the car is undoubtedly worth more than the damage, so it should not be written off...

Also. If i were to sell my car, You'd never ever be able to tell it got in a slight accident.
For 2010 RDP's were not standard in Canada they were optional
2009 was a very very rare year for RDP's in canada, Yes 2010 became more common, however i have never seen a RDP in a cobalt in winnipeg.
Off topic, Saw my first ss/tc sedan today.
All 2010 on dealer lots had rpd that I had seen. Also all of them have LSD in Canada an a low rises. No interior colour options in Canada for 2010.
Only seen about 5 though in Winnipeg. And never any driving around. The only people with 09 that have rpd ordered them like that. Or the dealer put in a request when they ordered.

Like all the people that said the SS/TC should be AWD. Well then it would be the same price as a EVO and no one would buy it.
I tired to put that as politely as possible ~ I'm not here to miff any of my 'brethren'
Sir, I am not a betting man, but if you're willing to make a bet, I'll be in for what ever your willing to go for...

yes it was rare - iirc there was something like 6xx (I'm pretty sure it was definitely less than 700)...
(I'll look in a bit to see if I recorded that info)
I think (back when compnine would let me cross reference stuff) I saw that there were about 200 in Canada...
I cannot say with certainty that I have ever seen one... I mean from my observations, 4-door SS's of any type are rather scarce to begin with.

At by the end of the 2009 model year some options were no longer available, and the remaining options became std equipment in the 2010 (carry-over car, since 2009 was slated to be the final year ~ and only in the 11th hour did GM announce that the Cobalt was going to be offered for 2010 ~ which included the SS model)...
This is what the options shuffle looked like:
Beginning of the 2009 model year:
- standard aux port/XM radio
- High Rise Spoiler (extra cost)
- Two Tone interior; ebony & grey, or ebony & red (no cost; iirc)
- Power Sunroof (extra cost)
- Limited Slip (extra cost)
- USB Radio (extra cost)
Colour Options:
- Silver Mist Metallic (no cost)
- Sport Red Tintcoat (extra cost)
- Rally Yellow (no cost)
- Imperial Blue Metallic (no cost)
- Black (no cost)
- Summit White (no cost)
- Black Granite Metallic (noted as interim availability; I don't think I saw or heard of one)
- Victory Red (no cost)
Midway through the 2009 model year;
- RPD (finally) offered to Canadian consumers; was available from the beginning of the model year for state-side buyers
3/4 through 2009 model year;
High Rise Spoiler option removed
Rally Yellow colour option removed
At the begining of the 2010 model year the following previous options became std equipment in the Cobalt SS;
- Power Sunroof (extra cost)
- Limited Slip (extra cost)
- USB Radio (extra cost)
At the beginning of the 2010 model year the following (previously available) options were no longer available;
- Two Tone interior; ebony & grey, or ebony & red (no cost; iirc)
- Sport Red Tintcoat
At the beginning of the 2010 model year the available colours saw the following changes;
- Crystal Red Tintoat; new colour (extra cost)
- Black Granite Metallic (now noted as an extra cost paint option)
Make sense?
I know this mostly becasue I shopped for a 2009 w/Limited slip, in rally yellow for pretty much all of 2009 ~ but couldn't get over the MSRP long enough to actually sit down and order one with just that one extra cost option...
Then about half way into the 2010 model year I found my car, and a low rise, analog boost gauge counterpart sitting on a local lot... with 52km on the odometer.
So I "built" a car probably a hundred times, visited the dealer three or four times, but ended up walking becasue all the dealers would order cars fully loaded, and to make matters worse, the immediately local dealer was stating that they had a "no negotiating" policy on SS's...
There's a definite novelty behind it... I call it my 'nintendo gauge'...
I know that its more about the wow factor than anything else - but at the end of the day I wouldn't have considered it a make it or break it option;
I mean do I like it? ~ yes
Did I pick this car specifically because of this gauge? ~ yes
Would I have been willing to pay the actual $340 ontop of the ridiculous MSRP for one? ~ no way
I got my Cobalt for well below 'base' 2009 SS MSRP... actually within a smaller dollar amount from that black Vickar CSS than some might care to know...
I mean I am after all Mennonite Brethren - I gotta some how live up to the stereo-type!
