Welcome to wienerpeg soon to be winterpeg what punishment brought you here! JK Its okay here. Should come out to Smittys for wings Thurs a few of us Cobalters are going.

I have been pricing them out here for a block heater and IT's looking between 182-225 at the canadian tires think I may try to do it myself.

this will be my first winter in my Cobalt;
last year my brother (has a C-SRT4) was worried about it, because like us, he has no block heater;
but he didn't have any issues...
sure I'm not in Winnipeg, but our cold snaps are just as cold as yours (only yours are typically longer)...

if you need something to sleep better at night, get one of the ones that is essentially a heater element that epoxies to your oil pan... sure it's not a coolant one, but the heat will irradiate through the block...

Ok, since you all seem cool enough, I'll post up w/o singling anyone out.

I am in the midst of trying to compile a list of yearly production numbers, as as well as year/colour breakdowns;
could anyone interested please look at THIS thread, and if your model year & colour numbers are not displayed, could you please PM me your vin - we all know that in Canada a vin number is useless, so unlike the states, there should be no due cause for concern...

I'm emploring for your participation... not even the calgary guys have replied to my request

Your numbers don't jive with what's currently out there... maybe your posted numbers are USA-specific??
(I noticed no Z49 listed)

They for sure look looks like numbers published some time ago.

unfortunately that's not at all what I'm looking for.

I have all the 2008 model year SS info already posted btw, and am only missing totals for two colours of 2009 SS's

yeah, what they posted was cars that were;
1) sold and out of hte network at hte time of the posting (many 2009's remained unsold into the 2010 model year).
2) USA-only numbers.

My numbers are from compnine, which is a database of ALL the cars built, not just USA destined cars.

I take it you didn't even look at the thread I linked?

welcome!

you should post some pics.

i dont do anything for block heater. tried to get one installed the first month i had it got a call back about 4 hours later saying there would be no charge for my oil change or the block heater....the block heater because tehre was not place to mount one.. the oil pan heaters seem to be popular though.

i called Gm all pissed because i couldnt get a block heater in winnipeg. they basically told me that its synthetic oil and that there should be absolutely no issue and it was tested in sub -40temps... how much of that i believe is another story but i got to say its never so much as sounded like it wasnt gonna kick over and has never run rough on a cold ass morning. so i guess its mostly true... my 2.2 would vibrate you out of the seat if i tried that lol.
