Manitoba's SS's 2010
YTou'll have to balence cost of purchase with install, versus how long they would last when buying used, but there are deals out there.
you can do:
- 215/45/18
- 225/40/18
- 235/40/18
and still likely have zero discernible speedometer error
I am currently running Kijiji-special Continental Winter Contact 790's @ 225/45/18, and am not worried about the minimal speedo error...
The best deal I could find (quite a bit cheaper than TireRack) was Discount Tire Direct. They have free shipping in the US, and free mounting and balancing. I just shipped to Menke's and picked them up myself. Ended up getting 17" Drag DR-34 wheels and studded 225/45R17 Hankook iPike's
Discount tire had a deal on falken winter tires, 18's for 135 a tire.
Personally, since you have a ss/sc i would get 16 inch steelies and run a 16 inch winter tire
i snagged some 235 winter tires in 18s off of kijiji for 100 bucks

Bridgestone Blizzak WS60
Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60
Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 RFT
I realize none of this are the exact size you wanted but I don't see any in that size
Ya thinking about going smaller but the car came with 2 18 blizzacks on it already. If I get the 16's and put them on front and put the 18's on back is that gonna cause issues? Speedo, Alignment etc...
195or 205-50or55 r16
They will be off by 2% one way or the other for diameter.
I wouldn't suggest putting 18s on the back If you have 16s on the front or vice versa it could cause allignment issues. Did you have blizzacks as summer tires?... Speedo shouldn't make a significant difference if you do though.

A 60 side wall is a good size for winter tire. Bigger te side wall the softer the ride generally and possibility for deeper tread a well. Both pluses for a winter tire.
Het mike I hope the interceptor install went ok. Sorry about not having the instruction sheets. I lost/misplaced alot of **** during the move to my house. Let me know how you make out. I think you'll like it it's a nice piece.

Tire rack showed I could do a 215/55R16 and it would only be off by .3 inches diam.
from the couple times I messaged him, he seemed like a nice enough guy...
First year it's been winter driven, I definitely want to put some kind of heat under this thing for a cold Winterpeg winter!
1) it's not the driving part that requires heating - it's the possibility of the coolant freezing/ and expanding, and the risk of cracking a block that requires the heating. So even if it wasn't winter driven, if it wasn't in a heated garage, it would have been subjected to the same freezing temperatures...
2) last time I checked, Winnipeg and Calgary have the same lows - but you guys have it stay in a deep freeze there for expended periods, whereas here it's a constant cycle of warming & cooling...
two facts;

2.) Average min. temperature in Winnipeg in January of 09: -25 degrees
Average min. temperature in Calgary January of 09: -12 degrees
Winnipeg winter's are wayyyy colder!
