Calgary - random talk thread
Just let me know if one of those works better for you, and it will happen.
FYI: Thursday and saturday are probably a no-go.
Do you think you'll be close to me now? I understand you have some more to gain as the tune gets better. Ya surprised it ran with that sensor 2 teeth off
tomorrow after supper is good for me, i will pick you up around 730 if thats good.
hard to judge that til we line up. i think the same thing you will jump out but ol edward is a freight train in higher rpm's. lets just say it builds speed like it has never has before. i giggled like a school girl.

Well what do you want from the car? want to hold 24-26psi at 6500rpm or 30? also if you go cams you also have to do springs and to go over 7K I think you should do a balancer and NBS. As soon as I have delt with my clutch I'll take you in my car or let you drive it so you can see for yourself. What do you want from your built do you have a hp goal? Let me know and for sure I can give you some good ideas
But maybe my understanding is flawed...
IMHO (and from my understanding)
Stock intercooler: 21psi is safe max
Stock short block: 25psi max
Stock charge pipes: 27psi max (but a quick boosts spike to 27psi in a deep freeze will pop them)
Cams increase duration, which increase the amount of time the valve is off the seat;
Which in conventional engines compromises low end power & idle for better high rpm power;
Larger cams, with a turbo that is match (for rpm range) would mean the car makes better power, for longer than with the smaller cams and the smaller turbo (which is best suited for lower rpm response what the average north american buyer wants).
I am by no means committed to any "build", but rather throwing the idea around...
And DIC info is of paramount importance to me, I drive to & from High River every day, so I generally at least once a week roll into HR on fumes to make he best of my fill there...
I don't know if there have been any advances in adjusting the ECM for injector changes so that the DIC reads correctly;
From my observation with LSJ's, no one has paid any reguard to DIC outputs, so mileage info is way out of whack (larger injector reduces required duty cycle, and in turn the DIC thinks that your mileage has just substantially increased)...

I am pretty sure that with the K04, 6,500 rpm is already too much - hence going to a larger turbo...

i know kevins big wheel does not fall off at 6000 rpm like the original ko4 does. the big wheel hits harder then the trifecta tuned ko4, and holds it longer. the ko4 in his car before the big wheel fell flat on its face at 6000. he had to short shift to keep me behind him when we were messing around.

Hit the bricks haha

With a bigger turbo you can get more revs from the engine because it will hold boost all the way up top making it "seem" like a bigger cam. My turbo holds boost up top nicely but not compared to the ZFR if you are so concerned about having the estimated fuel mileage I would stick with the stock cams maybe valve springs and either the ZFR or the bigwheel I have after you come in my car you can decide
There's an algorithm that has to do with the injectors duty cycle going on there that creates the mileage;
When the injector is changed the algorithm isn't changed, so it simply sees a smaller duty cycle, and thinks less fuel is being used;
this is also why to the best of my knowledge the larger fuel pump lobe would screw DIC readings up.
the cams won't affect DIC, only changing injectors will do that;

nobody here running E, nor the parts they ran to hit that number. i know you think im full of it jonathan. maybe reserve your thoughts til we datalog again. lets just say sunday was a joke hahahahaha.
kevin guesstimated with full bolt ons and meth he was about a 330 hp car. which is approx right to the rest of the numbers others make with similar mods. if he didnt have the big wheel right now he would be in trouble.

this is what surprised us both when we had some fun. he jumped out and i ran him down. which is direct opposite to all of our initial thoughts. i may ot hit as hard as a ko4 but i build speed alot better and hold boost for longer. as soon as the ko4 fell on its face i was there to take advantage.
from my quick ride tonight i found every gear shining now.
