so after an unsuccessful attempt at cahnging my header i decided i am going to get a down pipe and then just take it to calgary muffler and have them deal with it so i have a couple questions.
1) The header is a shorty from cobalt adiction what would be a good downpipe to pair it with(just looking for opinions)?
2) about how much would they charge?
3) at the same tim should i have the full exhaust done?
just trying to get some opinions from you guys before i decide on anything

you can do it all with hand tools, and yes the header bolts are tight as they need to be. i had to use lock tite on them when i put my manifold back on because they kept backing off
Call it a pre-emptive strike that (hopefully) avoids you really getting knocked by some of the less than stellar people here...
Incase you didn't realize it, the LNF uses a headpipe that comes straight off the turbo - so it is unlike any 2.2L, 2.4L, or LSJ header/headpipe combination.
Ok, to try to help;
Is there a headpipe that is supposed to go with this header?
or is this 'shorty header' supposed to go with the original headpipe?
I'm with Steve though - and were I in your shoes, I would put a little more research/effort into this before doling out money at a muffler/exhaust shop ~ they're going to make a (highball) guesstimate on straight labor to swap this for you;
if anything they're use/modify your original headpipe to use with this header.
Do you have a garage to work in?
Did you raise your car in the air to get as good of a 360 degree view of this area?
I might be able to help out...
soundjunky the header is a direct replacement and i just need to get a downpipe to pair with it and ya we didnt lift it very high but if i do it myself i will take my car to my aunts cause me and my dad have a full hydraulic lift
a vin makes the search easier because they can pick that cars seat option code, and get the part number that way - but you most certainly do not need a vin for any parts search - you just need to know what you're looking for.
Did you make hte mistake of talking to one of the tools @ jack carter?!?
I have (since they moved) repeatedly got that whole "sorry, i need a vin" bs from them - before I bought my cobalt, I had had decided that I've had enough with those clowns... they won't get another nickle of of me...
(and I live close enough to walk to them!)
Go to shaganappi, there are several competent parts employees there - I have never had any of them require a vin (I've actually known one of them for a little over a decade already)...
that's complete baloney.

sexy
wait a second!! - there was a car in that post!??

man, I can look that seat stuff up later too ~ I might be heading up to **** this week (going to phone them tomorrow)...
they're goign to be pricey;
iirc ls1fbody looked them up and was quoted something near, but just shy of $1k... and parts cost more up here...
you might want to see if anyone is doing a part out - and drive across the border to pick them up.
I am currently tryingto see if a member here who lives in northern montana (or whatever) might be willing to accept a shipment for me (then I'll go pick it up) - if I find someone, maybe they can help you out too?

I cant leave the country. for reasons we will not go into, But once I get the part numbers I can give them to my accountant. her husband or brother owns this parts company that supplys gm with there parts. or somthing like that. it works out to be like 1/3 the price.

here I was going to offer to pick stuff up for you if need be (only read the first line in my email notification) ~ feel like hooking a 'brother' up?
